You may know about the Holocaust, you may not, but regardless, it was a time of great tragedy, and it is sad to think about it and what our species has done, but a girl whose name was Anne Frank who lived during the Holocaust said this: “In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” I agree with this statement because in the book The Play of The Diary of Anne Frank, Mr. Frank is always nice to everyone and takes care of the family, but others might not believe Anne’s quote because of the character Mr. Dussel because he is ignorant and impatient with everyone. I believe Anne speaks the truth, and a character named Otto Frank or just Mr. Frank- through actions and speech- swayed me to agree because he is a prime example of an honest, good-at-heart person. On page 81, Mr. Frank says, “I’m going down.” He says this in reference to the noise heard downstairs. This is very brave and selfless because he puts himself in potential danger for his family. The reason is a character named Jan Dussel, or Mr. Dussel, and this is because he is impatient and temperamental with the group in hiding. On page 111, Mr. Dussel says, “Will you please let me in my room.” He says this to Anne and Margot when Margot is getting Anne ready for the “date” with Peter. This shows that he is impatient and ornery because they had already told him to hold on and he persists with the obnoxious gesture. He was informed they were trying to get ready, though they weren't being the fastest. He was not being respectful and he was being interruptive. Even though Mr. Dussel isn’t the best person, I still feel like Anne’s quote is true, because we’re only human and we are composed of flaws. That's what makes us human, and at the end of the day, we are all really good at heart, even if you don’t see
