Animal cruelty is any kind of action that provides suffering or harm to an animal. There are two main types of abuse that fall into the act of animal cruelty; intentional cruelty and neglect. Intentional cruelty consists of physically harming, torturing, and even killing an animal. Neglect is simply the act of intentionally not providing the basic care an animal needs such as, water, shelter, and food. Aside from neglect and intentional cruelty, there are many more forms of cruelty against animals that most people are unaware of.

Animals such as mice, rabbits, dogs, monkeys, cats, and many other animals are locked inside cages in several laboratories across the United States to experiment with them and are terribly treated. Each year, in the US, above 25 million animals are used in medical experimentation, biology lessons, cosmetic testing, and scientific education. During these types of experiments animals are exposed to procedures like the vaccination of several diseases, testing drugs, poisoning for toxicity testing, burning skin, and other agonizing and aggressive tests. In most, animals die before the end of the study and the animals who survive the experiments are killed after the study is finalized. According to the book “Animal Rights, Human Wrongs” by Tom Regan, states that even though scientist may think animal testing is accurate, in reality is not accurate. “It’s estimated that one hundred thousand Americans die and some million are hospitalized because of the harmful side effects of the prescription drugs hey are taking” (Regan 17), which leads us to conclude that animal testing isn’t at all accurate as scientists think it
