Writing: An Incredibly difficult skill Writing is the process of using words to communicate thoughts and ideas into a readable form. As long as I can remember the desire to write has not been one of my personal interest even though one can say that writing is one of the easiest skills ever because writing can come from life experiences, it can be a thought or as simple as wanting to be heard. For me, writing is a difficult skill that I have always struggled with, although it has never stopped me from expressing my thoughts and opinions. Writing is one of the most difficult skills that I have experienced, especially academic writing. I also, find it very difficult to clarify my writing and have it be more compelling towards my audience. …show more content…
The idea of comprehending literature is to know what is being read. Usually, teachers always asked me to write a literary analysis essay. Which was one of my least favorite things to do. Most of the time I had a hard time comprehending what I had just read, making it harder for me to write about. As a result, I also find it hard to clarify what I want to say. I always tend to go around an idea instead of being clear. For example, Kurt Vonnegut mentioned how his teachers wished him to write accurately and always select the most effective words. Meaning write what has to be said, In my previous writing classes my teachers gave me the same feedback and so far, I have tried to imply the feedback into my writing. I believe that I am getting better at writing what I want my audience to know. Moreover, As a writer, I need to know who my audience is which I find quite challenging to captivate my readers attention because it is hard work. Joseph Conrad the Author of Heart of Darkness described his writing career as “hard labor for life”
Both passages concern the same topic, the Okefenokee Swamp. Yet, through the use of various techniques, the depictions of the swamp are entirely different. While Passage 1 relies on simplicity and admiration to publicize the swamp, Passage 2 uses explicitness and disgust to emphasize the discomfort the swamp brings to visitors.
I found that learning by example helped my writing greatly. One of the books we read, “The Sixth Extinction” by Elizabeth Kolbert, influenced my writing. The book is well written in an academic style that engages the reader. Her writing also flows nicely throughout every passage. I tried to
The Midwest: land of TV news anchors, housewives, and dreary, never-ending fields. In her memoir “The Horizontal World”, Debra Marquart uses interesting rhetorical techniques to detail this vast, distinctly uninteresting plain. By using unusual figurative language, outside examples to solidify her points, and a geometric extended metaphor, she paints a picture of perhaps the most boring place on Earth.
Question 1 – The reason of the price of free-range eggs is expected to rise.
Every writer has a style of writing that is unique to them. This literary element, style is the author’s personal way of describing, events, object and ideas. An author’s style is also comprised of his or her word choice (diction), sentence structure (syntax), sentence arrangement (organization) and figurative language (imagery). All those thing come together to create mood, image and meaning throughout the text. Similarities and differences in style can be established in the writings of nineteenth century British writer, Charles Dickens, and his French comrade, Guy de Maupassant. Both author’s diction is unbelievably comparable, but their imagery is far from being related. One of the many things Dickens is famous for is his extensive and detailed imagery, which can be seen in his classic short story “A Christmas Carol”. Maupassant’s imagery is in fact very concise and nonspecific, which can be seen in his short story “The Necklace. Both stories “A Christmas Carol” and “The Necklace” show various similarities and differences. But in the aspect of style, diction, both authors use formal and sophisticated word choice.
Throughout time, influential writers have produced many great works of literature. These works of literature impact the stylistic aspect of writing for years to come. Joseph Conrad, one of these influential writers, used his own personal experiences to write harrowing novels, such as Heart of Darkness. Conrad’s impact on literature is his distinctive writing style. Described as a “winding, indirect, tautological, and sometimes frustratingly ambiguous narrative structure” (Davies), Conrad has cemented himself as one of literature’s greatest authors. Surprisingly, Conrad was not directly born with the gift of literary perfection. Instead, Conrad became recognized as a literary genius through his lifetime and experiences.
Writing is a way in which a person can express their thoughts and ideas through the use of words. Everybody has their own writing styles. Some may consider theirs as inspirational while others think of it to be bad. Writing requires a lot of patience and time. In my case, writing has never been my favorite thing to do. I am no Shakespeare and I never will be, writing has always made me feel uncomfortable. In the past, I had always considered writing to be one of the most difficult tasks. I often wrote about topics that were not of my interest. I rarely did any writing out of school or for leisure as most people do. I only wrote because the teacher asked us to. Writing has always been forced onto me. Even though my writing isn't that great, I've felt that I've never been given the freedom to express my voice. Academic writing has always made me anxious. And, anxiety had resulted in my procrastination. Even though I consider writing to be one of the toughest tasks, I've felt that giving myself enough time to think allows me to do better. Silence helps me think beyond horizons. However, the fear of impressing someone, the anxiety and frustration is what makes me a developing writer.
My portfolio absolutely reflects my understanding of persuasive writing. Persuasive writing focuses on the ability to formulate an essay that takes an argumentative stance, but takes the opposition into consideration as well. My portfolio also represents the goals and objectives of persuasive writing. The essays I have written for this course demonstrate that I have certainly developed my critical thinking skills, and developed, or better yet, mastered my communication and personal responsibility skills; but, because of my occasional lack of analysis and issues with word choice, my writing process is not perfected.
Writing is difficult for many reasons. I have dyslexia, which make writing more difficult. Although dyslexia makes school more difficult I have never let it stop me and I am not going to start now. Also, I have never been good at coming up with words that sound good together and I don’t like to write. I am also not confident with my writing I never think it’s good. Getting started...

Since a rapidly changing world and relentless march of technology put pressures on many companies, the biggest challenge is to survive. Consequently, it is likely to make entrepreneurs and senior managements attempt to look ahead at what will happen in the marketplace, as well as have a fair idea of global/domestic trend and competition, along with a long-term focus on success. Through gathering market intelligence and conducting marketing research, decision makers could better manage the offering, allocate resources efficiently, improve operating performance. Significantly, companies can grow their business, and be in an invulnerable position. Another reason is market intelligence and marketing research enable companies to keep track of latest
Writing has been my most challenging requirement through school. I am not a very experienced writer. I was not required to write much in high school until my last semester. My last semester in high school, about a year and half ago, I took GENR-091 which is the last time I have written a paper longer than one page. That was my most recent writing class; I am rusty to say the least.
Writing is a subject that can be interpreted in many different ways in everyday life. Writing has been in people’s early stage of life. I have grown up using writing as a foundation to do everything. Knowing how to write allowed me to complete the necessary work and assignments to move on to the next stage in school, work, and life. The norm in this country is to be successful.
The Use of Video, Analytics and Electronic Devices It is possible that the aspect of video, analytics and electronics in sports has developed the most due to the application of technology. One major technological advancement in sports is the addition of instant replay. Venugopal (2015:53) states “Systems such as Hawk-Eye --commonly used in cricket for split-second decisions, TV umpires, multi-cam broadcasts and instant analysis of team performances by breaking them into numbers and percentages have all contributed to making hockey far more beautiful to watch, informative to the layman and easier to understand.” Technological advancements have helped create cameras that can go where humans cannot.
“Man is an animal that lives in language as a fish lives in water and so written communication is just one of the ways that man can survive through” (English scholar Annie Dillard). Writing is a skill to give information. Like all skills, it is not inborn and so it needs to be learnt. To give information you need good communication skills including the ability to write simply, clearly and concisely (Harris & Cunningham, 1996).
