“It had been raining for seven years; thousands upon thousands of days compounded and filled from one end to the other with rain”. Imagine being on the planet venus which is stormy and dark, with only the sun coming out for 2 hours every 7 years. Life in the short story, “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury describes that life is different on Venus because the sun only appears for only 2 hours every 7 years. This story takes place on planet Venus. In an underground building where kids have their education taught with. And one of the kids who lives in that building, on the planet Venus, is Margot. The author portrays this when they locked her in the closet. This is shown when Bradbury wrote, “They stood looking at the door and saw it tremble from her beating and throwing herself against it” (Bradbury 1954). This quote states that Margot is being harassed and isolated from the kids and their beliefs about the sun. Another example is when they lock her in the closet. This is also due to the fact that the kids don't believe her words when she tells them that the scientists have told them that the sun is coming out this year. This is shown when Bradbury wrote, “He gave her a shove. But she did not move; rather she let herself be moved only by him and nothing else”. This show that she is being harassed by the kid giving a shove and isolating her from them because they agree with her words. And when she didn't move shows how isolated from the group because of her experiences of the sun. This is significant because this shows how harassment can occur when a person is isolated and how much knowledge the harasser(s)
