People say that everyone is unique in their own special way. However, someone’s unique qualities can and may be met with jealousy and bitterness. That is how Margot feels in the story, All Summer in a day. All Summer in a Day is about a colonization on Venus, a planet that only shows the Sun every seven years. However, the main character, Margot, moved to Venus years after the last Sun sighting, so she still remembers the Sun. The other children do not take kindly to this, so when the Sun is about to come out, they shove Margot in the closet until the Sun is away. The second piece of evidence is, “‘What’re you looking at?’ said William. Margot said nothing. ‘Speak when you’re spoken to.’ He gave her a shove.” …show more content…

‘Margot!’ ‘What?’ ‘She’s still in the closet where we locked her.’ ‘Margot.’” This supports the claim because they are feeling guilty and remorse for their envious actions. The second piece of evidence that supports the theme is, “And they, they had been on Venus all their lives, and they had only been two years old when the sun came out and had long since forgotten the color and heat of it and the way it really was. But Margot remembered.” This supports the claim because the children are envious of Margot’s remembrance, thus having a reason to put her in the closet, and thus why they feel guilty
