A firms character is about brand, behavior, ethics, and reputation. Aflac Incorporated is a brand that is known for good character and being ethical. "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us" (Romans 5:3-5, King James Version). In this verse, tribulation refers to character. According to Adams (2015), Forbes ranked Aflac 5th out of 800 companies that applied to be considered for companies with the best character and reputation. For organizations, having good character means not taking short-cuts to achieve competitive advantage or financial gain by unethical means.
