To be the best at something, you have to be willing to take risks, especially when you are needed to be exceptional. That is the task that Lionel Messi must achieve every time he steps onto the pitch. He is the talisman of Barcelona, and everyone expects great things from him every game. Since he is widely regarded as the best player in the world by many, Adidas did sign with him back in his earlier years, and Messi now features in many Adidas ads for things like cleats, or other sportswear. In one of his recent advertisements, this is what Adidas exactly said. This ad 's message is a very easy one to determine, as it has text to also help clarify what they are trying to say in their message. The message is serious, but in a sporting mentality. The company is trying to inspire their audience, and saying that they can be like one of the greatest athletes of all time if they were like him. If they took risks, tried their hardest for their teams or themselves, and used Adidas products to help them along the way. While this is only one example, any other kind of promotional ad would be doing the same. When a Nike ad is aired, professional athletes like Christiano Ronaldo or Neymar would be used, and for Puma, Usain Bolt is used. All these types of advertisements are used to promote a central message of "These are the best athletes and they use our products. If you use them, you will be great like them one day." In many advertisements or even in pictures in general, there is a part called "white space." White space is defined as the part of a picture where there is nothing there. No part of the picture, no element at all, and can be used to help the audience focus more on the picture or text given. However, in this case with Adidas, there is no white space available, as all the space is used to create or place images. This highlights the fact that the entire image is a collective whole, and must be looked at in a complete sense. When looking at the layout of the portrait, there are both the elements of text and image. The text is pretty big over the image respectively, as half is covered by text. The text conveys the message, and the image is there for a supporting role, and is done very effectively. The text is even bolded, creating a highlighted element in the image, amplifying the importance of the text in the picture. Without it, the picture would just be Messi running in a stadium with no context. It would be a lot harder to grasp the concept or message of the advert without any background context of soccer or
