Obstacles had never been obstructing my effort to succeed in life. As an engineer to be, it is important to me to be prepared for the hurdles in the real world. The world nowadays needs a person who could compete and has great abilities to stand on the same level as others. Multiple skills and critical opinion of an issue are essential for an engineer to jump into this challenging career. For me, a strategic planning and full preparation need to achieve the aim of being an expert engineer.
To accomplish my goal, it is very vital to reflect myself and make an action in increasing my effectiveness and reaching my potential. 4000 miles away from hometown are a sacrifice that I had made not just for a degree but more than that. Being an international student has thought me to be realistic and looking forward. Engineering is not just a career but is a medium where I can express my ideas and make the world a better place to live. Looking back my profile, I love to investigate and try to understand how things work and these make engineering as a part of my life.
The first step of being a successful engineer is to have a systematic and efficient learning. It is very important for a student to understand the fundamentals and basic principles of engineering. For me, an expert engineer needs diverse skills and qualities, which will lift them to the higher level. I am now realizing that my approach to learning is not a way it should be. I found that by memorizing and copying out things are helping me to remember notes, but I know that these only just work for a short period. So I have to set out to understand the meaning of what I have to learn instead of concentrate my time repeating things, which are surface approach to learning. Now, w...

...ineering with first-class honours is my ultimate academic goal. After that, I am planning to further my study in PhD and make a research about the microstructure. It is easy to set the target but to achieve it need a lot of work and sacrifice the time and money. Strategic planning and full preparation needed to make the dream come to reality. I always tell myself that I have a potential to reach the target, and it is not impossible for me. To motivate me, I do read articles about the successful people as it may give me an inspiration and encourage me to be like them or even more.
Without the first step, nothing can be achieved. Full preparation and well organized make the target possible to grab, and it has to start from this day forwards. I have to set my mind and stay focused. Now it is the time to start and not looking back. I am the best and I lead the rest.
"Achievement was all very well, but it was the process, not the goal, that was most important" (Sotomayor 92) – I live among these lines. You learn more over the process of your goal than the goal itself.
Bernard Roth was a mechanical engineer before he wrote a book to inspire people all over. When Roth me other engineers who had dreams of building up their own companies, but none had any intent of actually doing it that is the observation that struck Roth (theachievementhabit.com). That observation is what made Roth want to teach a class and write a book. In Roth’s book The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life, he shares many of his very own personal stories. Roth tires to help people see hope in an honest and open way.
I encourage you to always stay determined and focused on anything you do so you can not just succeed but you can over-achieve. Without exception you need to stay open-minded and be careful of your actions cause everything you do can affect your legacy. A quote from Swami Sivananda states “Put your heart, mind and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret to success.” This quote influences me because it's stating that just try your best in everything you do and you will succeed, not just your goals but in life as well.
Thirty years ago when my parents left behind a comfortable life in South America to pursue opportunities that would truly change their lives, they had no idea they would be foreshadowing the recent events of my life. After working for two years as an engineer, I have realized something that I had suspected all along: I do not belong in the world of business or engineering. I need to be in a profession in which I can establish unique relationships with people by having a positive impact on their lives.
According to the authors (Entwistle & Ramsden, 1983), differences between approaches to learning concern the differences that what learners are focusing on, what they are trying to achieve and how they are going about it. In the deep approach, students intend to extract meaning and, thus, engage in an active process of learning that involves relating ideas and searching for patterns and principles (Entwistle, 2000). Furthermore, the deep approach is argued to promote understanding and long-term retention of ideas that could result in long-term and meaningful outcomes of higher education (Gibbs, Margon & Taylor, 1982; Marton et al., 1997; Marton et. al., 1993; Purdie & Hattie, 2002). On the other hand, in the surface approach, the students

Intellectual goals have always been in the back of my mind. Growing up my parents always emphasized the importance of education because neither went to college and they saw the flourishing need for degrees to apply for many jobs. This encouraged me to achieve the highest GPA I could and challenged myself with every honors class my school offered. My goal for the next four years, is to earn a 4.0 GPA, receive honors in my major of biology, and to continuously challenge myself with my coursework. I will accomplish my goal by discussing class options with my advisors and studying hard, whether it be by myself, in a learning center, or within a study group.
However, this is not to say that Surface learning is entirely wrong or inefficient in higher education. It has been proven that the surface approach to learning is indeed essential for some subjects to be mastered, for example, law, medicine or a second language. In these subject areas, certain universally accepted principles are taught which ar impossible to be questioned or altered. Here it is acceptable to adopt the surface approach to learning as there is no need to deeply analyze the information to see if it is wrong or not. It is a known fact which cannot be argued. For example, the mathematics
...elieve simply writing these goals out will manifest themselves and I look at where I came from to where I am now and where I can be in the future. I am very enthusiastic about advancing both in academia and career wise above all I am excited about the positive affects my journey will exsanguinate to others clients, family members, friends, and colleagues. As these people will positively affect my journey too in my point of view most things are circular and transactional. We all contribute to each other one way or another.
Every job involves certain skills and abilities, depending on which engineering path a person chooses to pursue. Important skills such as listening to what others are saying, taking time to understand and comprehend what they mean and want, and asking que...
Learning is a continuous process and the day that you stop learning is the day that you start decreasing your rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving. Banking on an excellent academic record coupled with a keen interest in the ever-growing field of science and technology motivated me to take up engineering.
While I was in high school, not only was I an active volunteer in several activities such as food drives and helping those in need, in addition to community work, but also I became invested in engineering sciences due to my perceptions regarding the importance of electrical engineering to an emerging industrial country such as mine. Therefore, as I was to graduate soon, I decided to specialize in this science as a student and future professional. Fortunately, through my undergraduate studies, not only did I found the science to be highly intriguing and vast giving way access to endless disciplines, but I have also found that it is very much correlated to numerous other sciences. This observation prompted me to further delve in my studies to become one day a well-informed engineer.
Occasionally we tend to set goals that are too vague and not realistic, which makes difficult to keep track of our progress towards these goals, ordinarily individuals give up in the goals which led them to feel as if they have failed. The first time I set goals for myself they were unclear and of a wide-range, which made it enormously difficult to keep track of my progress towards the goals, but more importantly, it made it extremely challenging for these goals to be reached, which left me with a sensation of disappointment. Hence, more important than setting goals is to make sure that these education, career and life goals are specific and
Ethics refer to those habits or standards that are considered to show good character and conduct. In the professional practice of engineering, engineers are confronted with different ethical issues and interpersonal conflicts. These cases could range from a small scale involving few people to larger conflicts where the outcome influences the engineering community and the society at large. Classically, engineering education does not duly address the needs for ethical education to be incorporated into the technical curriculum. However, it has become axiomatic that engineers must exhibit good ethical behavior because safety of the people and the environment rely on the quality of the designs/services that engineers provide.
An ambition to learn and grow and having passion for engineering have prompted me to go in for graduate studies. Chasing my Dreams! While growing up at a young age I was always intrigued by objects that produced mechanical work and energy be it prime movers such as automobiles, construction and mining equipment, turbo machinery such as jet engines, space shuttles or complex mechanisms of mechanical watches, I used to spend a lot of time trying to learn and figure out their basis and propositions, it was necessary for me to explore my inner conscience to understand my fascination towards machines and their ingenuity, Mechanical engineering seemed a direct consequence of my convictions. I have always admired my father as a civil engineer and his hard work and struggles throughout his life; He has always been a role model for me. He motivated me to pursue my dreams so I decided to pursue my undergraduate study in Mechanical Engineering
