Overcoming impossible odds, he played college football as an African American in a white society. Knowing that the KKK killed a couple of African Americans in Minnesota, he still played his heart out. He did not let fear drive him away from his goal; to honor his race, family, and self. Having all of that pressure on him is difficult. Also, I thought it was a good idea how Iowa State’s stadium was named after him. Yes, it is sad how the stadium was named after him only after his death. Yes, it years to change people’s mind to rename the stadium. Yes, we should not remember him just because of his name.
