Have you ever thought of what you can get out of college besides a higher education? People say getting a college education is not really valuable because it’s just a waste of money. In fact, a college education is not a waste of money. Although it can be expensive, it provides one with a college education and degree which can qualify them for certain jobs which may have a higher pay than a job that does not require a college degree. There are also many ways that can help you lower the cost of college. So is getting a college education really worth the money? The answer is yes, getting a college education is valuable for many and even more valuable for others because it is a great investment for the future. One way to get a college education for less is going to a community college. Community college provides the same education as a university does and is much cheaper. Some community colleges also feed directly into a university, but not always. Most of the time the classes at a community college are smaller than at a university. Community college isn’t the only option; Scholarships are also an option. There are many scholarships online that people can apply for and possibly get. Not only that, there is also financial aid and loans that people can get. In the article, “Why College Isn’t for Everyone” by Richard Vedder, the author states that, “...higher education is a good investment...seemingly far out distances college costs, yielding a high rate of return” (Vedder 78). College is in fact a great investment because it can benefit many people including yourself.
