Elements of Effective Organizations There are many different components necessary to have an effective organizational structure. It is important as well for a company to have various communication strategies within an effective organization. Various principles of effective management exists and should be assessed throughout the organization on a regular basis along with the decision-making and problem-solving processes that are necessary for effective organizations. It is also important for the leader to have problem-solving ability. The problem-solving ability does not stop with current problems but the ability to see potential problems as they may present themselves. This also would bring in contingency planning for when things do not go as originally planned, as might happen during a natural disaster such as a hurricane or earthquake. A good manager will be able to identify the problem by gathering information that they can review to assist them in what the best course of action may be. There are times that information gathering could be very limited so a decision may have to be made quickly and an action plan for implementation of that decision in some cases almost immediately. The process will start with the board and be delegated to Executive Management of the organization and from there communicated to Upper Management and Middle Management (Bainbridge, 2002). At smaller organizations, there are fewer levels the decisions need to be communicated through, however they are still best made at the top of the management structure to ensure the continuity for the vision and goals of the organization, and that nothing is left to chance on what is expected. Leadership Approach The one-size-fits-all leadership style is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Technology along with access to information almost instantaneously requires leaders to not only focus on what the individual needs but what the team needs as well.
