“The world was stunned today by the death of Diego Ricardo, the youngest person on the planet, the youngest person on earth was 18 years, 4 months, 20 days, 16 hours, and 8 minutes old.” Imagine a situation where the world is left without children, what would it feel like? Human infertility is the inability to reproduce. Generally speaking, if everyone in the world is unable to reproduce, it will lead to human extinction. This may not seem like a realistic situation, but it could be a metaphor for the modern world.
The movie “Children of Men” directed by Alfonso Cuaron describes a world where two decades have gone by without human fertility which caused the human race to be extinct. Kee, the only pregnant women left on Earth, has asked a militant …show more content…

As has been noted, Kee, being the only pregnant woman in the world, is the cure. She gave hope to the world. Scientists may have been able to use her to find a solution to human infertility. So in the movie, Theo must keep her safe and make sures she arrives at the sea safely with her baby. In the film, Kee is the cure for planet earth. If they don’t protect her and her baby, the world loses hope again and they go back to how everything was. This connects to the society because relating it in real life, Kee is the environment. If we don’t protect the environment, it is going to die off fast. People don’t care about the environment right now. The ground has so much garbage and junk and the air is getting very polluted daily. Additionally, nobody pays close attention to green bins and recycling bins and it is slowly damaging the earth. Nobody realizes that we have to take care of the environment for future generations. Hope is in future generations. If we do not have that, there is no point in life and everyone will act the same way, just like in the movie. The movie is using Kee to show us that when we realize that something is too late (taking care of the environment), everyone is going to freak out and be scared and react violently similarly to the movie.
