I can remember it like it was yesterday, when I couldn’t step outside without coughing because of the high pollution numbers. You couldn’t even see down the street at times and it sucked due to the fact some of the little kids couldn’t do regular things such as play outside without them being cautious of the high pollution numbers. When I was living there in Beijing the pollution was always a factor on how I spend my day, the worst thing about it was school cancelling practice because of the high pollution numbers so we never got much practice time. So the people that live in Beijing, china are always at the risk of getting lung cancer. When I was living there so many questions would go through my mind such as what are they doing to help and improve the air quality? Is the Chinese government really working on this problem or do they just care about the money making companies? Does the Chinese government even care about the population’s health and the risk that air pollution brings to a human well-being? The reason why I ask this is because when I was living there I never really saw any progress with the problem at hand all I saw was the pollution numbers kept on rising. What happens if there really isn’t a solution to this problem? This is a really big concern to me because the pollution levels are so bad that it’s like smoking a pack of cigarettes just from inhaling in the pollution. In order for me to go on with my research I will have to look into the problem a little deeper.
I began my research with a quick Google search, typing in “pollution problems” and “Beijing, China” into the text box. This is how I find this article written for The Guardian named “Inside Beijing 's airpocalypse – a city made 'almost uninhabitable ' by...

... was for me when I had to use it. For example if I wanted to run outside I would usually check the pollution numbers for my well-being. The report said air pollution in China kills about 4,000 people every day, about 17 percent of all deaths in China, but noted that connecting mortality to pollution is "complicated”(Ferris). This scared me and had me walk away from my computer when I read this because I used to live in Beijing for four years and I could have been a part of that scary statistic. When I was last in Beijing, pollution was at the hazardous level; every hour of exposure reduced my life expectancy by 20 minutes (Ferris). When I read this I wonder if my life really got shorten to be honest I even did the math it’s not a lot of years but it’s still a scary number to look at. If you put the numbers into hours it’s a lot and made me feel really uncomfortable.
