My College Experience: My Experience In College

y first semester at APU has gone by rather fast. It seems like orientation was only yesterday, and today we are taking finals. A lot has happened in these few months as I embark on my college career as a freshmen once again. College is a big step up when compared to high school. I am surrounded by adults far more knowledgeable than I. This year has also been full of new things, new classes, new adventures, new challenges and new risks. The college transition was more than slightly overwhelming. There were multiple times where I was completely at a loss for how to move forward. I am a freshmen in college and have yet to turn eighteen. Being a minor makes it very difficult to do anything on your own. This is not a challenge you an overcome on your own time, you must simply make adjustments for it until you turn of age. I am unable to sign any of my own documents because I am eighteen. It makes it incredibly hard to do anything official. Job hunting is more difficult because I am a higher liability. This issue limits my paperwork as well as my social life. The main thing I found that helped me was always doing important paperwork with my parents near by. They were the only ones that had access to a majority of the information I needed and they had to accompany my signature on multiple occasions. While it can be very frustrating overall it was helpful to have my parents there to ask any questions I had. The social issue of being under eighteen was dealt with slightly differently. I became very aware of the people I was associating with and making sure they were good role models and often pursuing friends that are closer to my age. Being a minor is still a challenge but it is one that I have learned to embrace and will overcome in a few days time. The more I think about it being seventeen for my first semester was a blessing because it kept away many temptations and allowed me an easy way out of unfortunate situations, Being young was not my only challenge this
