“Knowledge is power.” These three simple words express more about life than many of us can even fathom. This is especially true when we talk about the Bible. For one to understand the true power of the Lord and meaning of His words, one must first be able to comprehend the Bible. Just reading the Bible will help, but further research into its origin will maximize your knowledge. I do not consider myself a religious guru or know-it-all. I took the time to dive in to a book to help further my knowledge on the subject of God’s words in the Bible. The book I chose was Neil R. Lightfoot’s How We Got the Bible. I have never been an avid reader but for reason this book had me hooked from the start. I learned more about the Bible than I knew. These people would know that the Bible is made up of 66 books in total, written over sixteen-hundred years by more than forty kings, prophets, leaders, and followers of Jesus himself. Neil then talks about how the ancient books of the Bible were made. He states that the Bible did not just show up out nowhere or that its teachings have been saved for no particular reason. The Bible was actually preceded by the making of the ancient books. To be honest, I always believed that the Bible was the oldest book in the existence of the world.
