A Not so Clean World: Plastic Pollution

When people get thirsty, we look for something to drink, typically water. When people get hungry, we look for food, typically a snack or two. We tend to look for shortcuts just so that our lives can be easier. In terms of trash the easiest way for trash to be disposed, is to just throw it on the ground or litter. Mainly focused on the coasts of our land, laws and regulations are being put in place to stop the plastic pollution crime and save our waters. Plastic pollution in the United States is an increasing issue due to the spread of dangerous chemicals, clogged sewers, and bad disposable processes; contributions to America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project and increased awareness of the Marine Plastic Pollution Research and Control Act will help decrease this issue.

There is not one single person in this world that has not come across a bottle of water or at least heard of one. Change is not a simple idea for humans to take up; change is a radical thing because of the fact that we are not use to it and people do not want to get out of their comfort zones. Today we consume about billions of bags and bottles per year in the United States alone (“The Problem”). This tells people that the very first sign of plastic pollution started from within themselves. From an isolated perspective, there are over 300 million people in the United alone, and if each person were to have one water bottle to themselves it would still not account for all the plastic people consume per day. The problem starts with the idea of making things easy for people and when easy becomes the only choice available the initial idea becomes chaotic. ...d sometimes they just have to live with the bad, if the good outweighs the bad. In terms of plastic there is not one good thing that plastic creates if viewed in the long term effect. Plastic for the most part leads into the water systems which eventually lead into oceans to do more harm on a bigger scale. Most people are unaware of the correct or incorrect ways to dispose plastic which leads to a more extensive issue if people follow the bad. In conclusion, plastic pollution around the world has become an increasing issue due to the lack of knowledge that people obtain when they spread dangerous chemicals, when they clog the sewers, and when they do not dispose plastic correctly. There are multiple organizations around the world that contribute to the help of plastic pollution, people just look in the wrong places or do not know where to look in the first place.
