To excel in the workplace, the expectations of an employee include more than what they do physically. They also include the mental and social aspects, particularly if that employee is expected to work with a diverse set of individuals to complete certain tasks. After all, all types of people seek out employment and discrimination in the workplace is unacceptable since all people deserve a chance to work for a living. Each individual has the responsibility to not only be able to work with others, but to make working with each other a pleasant experience so as to make teamwork and communication easier.With all parts of a company working smoothly, the success of the overall company is assured. A good employee must have good verbal skills and critical thinking skills. These pertain to the mental and emotional aspects of a person. Interpersonal skills cover an array of skills. They can be from being able to negotiate for a desired aspect to recognizing the moods and emotional stability of others. A person has to be reliable and be able to stand for what is best, not only for themselves but for others. Being assertive, being able to lead, being someone who can persuade others to a cause shows someone who is dependable and strong. After all, I have learned that if I do not stand for what I want, I could easily be led to a path where I despise myself. To be the best I can be, I have to be able to define my boundaries with others and myself. By doing so, I can not only be my most productive and successful self, but others will learn what to expect from me. If an employee receives information that a delivery was to arrive but did not pass it to their manager, then the delivery could arrive and no one would be there to receive it. The delivery driver leaves with a shipment of supplies a company desperately needed and their customers are upset. The customers complain and are either compensated or they simply refuse to be customers of the company anymore. Had the employee simply communicated that information, then the company would not have suffered the loss in compensation and drop in their customer base. In this way, communication is important because it ensures a smooth running workplace that is capable of dealing with unexpected problems. Communication has to be done in an agreeable manner in order to ensure team members work with each other efficiently. After all, sometimes multiple people are needed for a task such a large scale project that needs to be done in a few days whereas normally it would take months for one person. Not only that, but having multiple people on one task allows for an exchange of ideas and new takes on a complicated problem. It can take a while for people to adjust to each other but if all members are willing, then teamwork will provide the best
