Everyone in some point of their lives are told that they need to go to college to get a good career so that they can provide for themselves and if they don’t, they won’t get far in life. Why is going to college so important? I believe the entire point of college in the first place is yes, to be able to learn the skills required for a specific career, but it is also to show people skills that they will use outside of those classes in the everyday world, as well as achieving intellectual growth. A lot of young adults are told to start thinking of a career at a very young age. Kids want to grow up to become something. That may be the same career as their parents, or it may be something they saw on TV such as a firefighter, or an astronaut. As they get older, they find out their passions and what they are good at. Once they enter high school, they begin to really learn new skills that they can take on to whatever career path they will choose. College not only helps those that know exactly where they want to go, but it also helps those that are still lost but know no matter what, they want to …show more content…
Taking an english class, for example, helps these students to be more professional in the way they talk, in the way they write, and present themselves. If someone can’t write in a professional manner, it doesn’t matter how good they may be for a job, if they can’t write professionally, they will seem unqualified. This is a skill that people will use for everything, in any career they choose. These classes help the students to become smarter, and to become a professional individual. Other people will be able to take these students seriously because of how they are able to present themselves. They are becoming smarter with these classes, and they are knowledgable with these subjects after they have passed the course and be able to take these skills with them years to
College is not for everyone, although, everyone should have some form of higher education. "Should everyone go to college?" is an essay meant to inform students of the pros and cons of going to college. Owens and Sawhill state that the cost of a college degree may not be worth the money that students put into furthering their education. In their article, Owens and Sawhill use three different rhetorical appeals; egos, logos, and pathos; to persuade the readers to think consciously about attending college. Their argument was effective because it forces the readers to look at the overall college experience in different aspects.
Is college worth it? Is college worth the time and energy you invest? This is a question that many students ask themselves as the cost of college rises and jobs are harder to find. As a 27 year, old college student myself I really thought about this question. I had to think back when I first started college at the age of 18 and how I was excited about starting college. I easily got tired of all the work that it took to get the degree so I dropped out. After having my first child and trying to work and take of her and myself with only making minimal wages, barely get by that when I knew college is worth it. A college education is one of the most reliable paths to financial success for students and gives the opportunity
If you're in high school the most common question you ask yourself is “will i go to college? and is it really worth it ?” My answer is yes, this is why, college usually pays of in the long run, What I mean is that in average a person that goes to college gets a better pay. If you are planning on graduating with a degree that involves STEM ( science technology engineering and mathematics) there will be 4 jobs available for those graduates while on the other hand a high school graduate will have 4 persons competing for the same job including themselves. In most cases people who do/did go to college also are healthier and have a greater self
Jayson Boyers stated that "having a college education can make big differences in some people 's lives" (The Huffington Post Newspaper, 2012). People who do college education often get high level and high paying jobs. The main reason for why students feel hesitant to attend college after they graduate from high school is because they worry about the price of schooling and they prefer to have a job instead to make fast money. Although, people who graduated from high school often are only able to receive jobs at fast food restaurants, clothing stores, etc. When people are able to earn more than enough money to have a stable life they are able to be less stress-free and enjoy their lives more. People who often work in retail jobs face the risk of not making enough money to buy food and also pay their rent. The money that people earn in retail jobs takes a very long time to save up in order to go to college. Alternatively, the world is very competitive and people, truthfully, do have trouble succeeding and even surviving day to day. The most recommended thing to do is to go to college after high school and take out a student loan if needed and pay it off when a career job is obtained. Working very hard now equals to a better life, job opportunities afterward, and positive friendships
Many students are faced with decision once they are about to graduate from high school. That decision is, “Is a college degree really worth it and is going to college what’s best for me?”. Looking back when I was graduating high school this was a tough decision for me and one that I regret making. A lot of the time you are about to graduate high school and you don’t know what you are going to do with the rest of your life and that makes going to school that much harder of a choice.
The life I have had so far has taught me a lot about academic and life skills; from when I was about six to the age I am now. I am always learning and happy to learn new things. I might not know what I want right now, but I do know that I want something for my life; I want to go to college, so I could make the future I see happen. As you 're reading this you 're probably asking yourself why? Why does going and graduating college mean so much to her? What makes her different from all the others? Well, to answer all those questions you would have to continue reading as I explain some of the moments in my life, in which they brought me to the conclusion that I have to go to college.
Having a college degree in today’s world is very important because more companies and businesses are requiring that anyone they hire has at least a two-year college degree, which is also known as an Associate 's degree. High school graduates and other people who have had thoughts about going to college should do so because it is getting harder for just a high school graduate to get a job, this is a result of hiring companies and businesses don’t want anyone without a college degree. Having a college degree will open more opportunities for the future. By doing so they further their lives and create a future that they want.
Honestly college at this certain point in time does not seem worth it. Everywhere else in the world college is free but the United States. People would feel more motivated to go to college if it was free. College is the main reason Americans are having to live such a hard lifestyle. My father did not go to college and makes eighteen dollars an hour. On the other hand my aunt did go to college and make twenty-four dollars an hour but is still paying back student loans so after paying all of her stuff back she only makes around fifteen dollars an hour that she gets to bring back and that doesn’t include taxes. That’s the reason college doesn’t seem like a good choice to make in life.
College is said to be the gateway to a successful career, and I think no different. One of the main reasons I want a college education is so when I approach an employer they see me and think success. Studies have shown that when you have a college degree you are more likely to make an average 20 thousand more a year. If I was awarded this scholarship money it would completely change things for me; I say this because my family has struggled financially and with this I would be saved from crippling debt in years to come. Another reason a college degree is important to me is because I am striving for financial success so that I do not have to struggle like my parents have. In life money is what makes the world go round, and with a college degree I would be placed in a position where I would be able to achieve a level of financial security that would support myself, and hopefully a
It is easy to think college is not worth the cost to become better, but getting educated molds a better person, and creates happier people in the future and occasionally they become better in health (Leonhardt 25 ). Becoming a better and happier person is pleasing for everyone. Even former President Obama says “‘Education helps us be better people. It helps us be better citizens. You came to college to learn about the world and to engage with new ideas and to discover the things you're passionate about -- and maybe have a little fun’” (Procon.org). Learning and engaging in everything is a skill everyone should have, so like he said we should go to college to be able to do that. Additionally, education shows people to develop more intellectual skill and become more responsible (Pew Social and Demographic Trends). Thus said, being educated and smart is something everyone can do and college helps with that. Likewise, college can encourage someone to be more educated and happier. Reaching the point of happier and more educated is worth the cost.
College education goes about the way to an effective future for people who are not kidding with it. A college education is necessary today in society. Students can focus on their academics and try to get a high score. The cost of education for each student has become more difficult to afford. Thus, many students and teachers wonder if free college tuition must be granted. Free education must be responsible and funded by the U.S. government because it will help students focus on their studies, and encourage them to work harder in school. Even thought many people think that education must be free, it is very important for many reasons such as the economy, quality of education, and value of a college degree.
