When I was little my parents always encouraged and helped me to try anything I wanted to try. When I wanted to try dance, my Mom enrolled me in classes for ballet and tap dancing. It was great, especially the tap dancing, however, since I was at such a young age I valued sleep more than my dance lessons, and lost interest. The next thing I tried was soccer. It was a lot of fun and I kept up with it for many years. I think the reason that I loved it so much was because the whole time I played, I had the same supportive teammates and encouraging coach, we were truly a team. Alas, it was too good to last. It wasn 't until the team finally broke up that I started to slowly lose interest in soccer as well, and my involvement tapered off. Around the same time that I was involved in soccer, I started to really become interested in my school work and the more academic clubs. My interest in academics all started when in, third grade, I had a friend in the Signet program. I loved talking to her about all the cool things she learned and the fun she had learning them. I begged my parents and my teachers to get me involved in the program, and finally was able to test in. Joining Signet was one of the best things I’ve ever been part of as it really opened my eyes to the fun and more interesting parts of school and learning. Until that point, I didn 't really think that much about school, I never really had much trouble with it other than a slight reading disability, which made learning to read harder. School, to me at that time was just somewhere I had to go every day, and where all my friends were. To this day I am still a part of the Signet program and have learned so much. Signet really was what peaked my interest in academic clubs and p... ... middle of paper ... ...ecoming a doctor or a nurse, I didn’t even think about Physical Therapy until it was suggested by my Mom, who was seeing one for her back. She was able to get me in touch with her Physical Therapist once I expressed interested. I finished two days of volunteering and shadowing a practicing the Physical Therapist and seeing what they did on an average day. I was hooked. I started to research what it meant to be a Physical Therapist and how they could help others in numerous ways, and in so many different settings. I decided then and there that that was what I wanted to do in life. I can’t wait get started on learning the skills and knowledge to excel in my chosen field, and while I know it won’t be easy, I will work as hard and as diligent as I can to reach my goals, not only to become a Physical Therapist but to also be the first in my family to graduate college.
I chose the path to physical therapy because I love helping people, and it seems very interesting to me. Being involved in sports and exercise almost my entire life, I can easily relate to the treatments/therapy athletes go through when injured. Now I would like to see what it’s like through the eyes of the caregiver. I plan to pursue PT graduate school after WCU and then eventually have my own PT office, or work in a clinical setting.
I never thought that I would purse something more than a bachelor. Actually, I am the first in my family to pursue higher schooling so I did not know much about it until I discovered physical therapy. I have been fortunate enough to have found something I love and am passionate about. Observing has given me so much motivation to continue. There have been many incredible experiences that reassure me this is what I want. At one of my observation experiences, there was a young girl that had an Ilizarov apparatus on her leg. The therapist that was working with her allowed me to help with holding a thera-band in place or tossing a ball back and forth. She told me she had come from a different country to have this procedure done. I found it so inspiring that every session she worked hard even when she did not feel her best. She also always kept a positive outlook on her situation. This was the first time I had the chance to actually interact with a patient and
I’ve always want to be something in the medical field since I was younger, but physical therapy never came across my mind until I was told by a friends mom that it was something she could see me being very good at. Ever since then I’ve been interested in it. Physical therapist think of and follow through with treatment plans for people who are injured or have an illness to help them move better, increase their strength, and/or relieve pain. I think I would be a good fit for this job because I enjoy working with people and I am very patient with people.
The career I have chose is Physical Therapy(PT). Physical Therapist do many different things, but their main function is to help impaired or physically disabled people enhance their movement and handle their pain. Physical Therapist are a main source in the rehabilitation, medical care and prevention of people with long lasting illnesses or damage. The reason I chose this career is because I love helping people and enjoy seeing people be motivated and succeed at their task. To help someone gain full strength in their limbs or maybe even learn how to walk again is my lifelong dream. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career
I have always been involved in sports in some way or another. I was team captain in every sport imaginable in elementary school. Junior high I continued to be involved in sports, but it wasn't until high school started that I really got into it. I played soccer, softball and basketball at Rogers High School. I particularly loved soccer. Just playing it gave me a rush I had never felt before. Also knowing that this sport took a lot of hard work and dedication gave me a sense of satisfaction, because I knew that I put everything I had into it. Putting a lot of dedication and hard work into something may prove to be useful in the future.
My journey to pursue an education in physical therapy actually originates from my early childhood. I endured a very impoverished upbringing and my family’s socioeconomic status was below the poverty line. At a very young age, money became the central issue of my life. I found myself worrying about mortgages, health bills, and grocery money. As I grew older, I vowed to myself that I would not endure my family’s financial burdens into my adulthood. I knew the best way to accomplish this was by obtaining a college degree and having a professional career. However, I was unsure what career I wanted to pursue. I experimented with many different career ideas, but during my sophomore, I discovered my passion and skill for physical medicine. For my
The way the Tracy handled, and interacted with the patient completely impressed me, and from that day onward, I was certain that physical therapy was the career for me. The aspect of physical therapy that I enjoy the most is working with different patients on rehabbing their injury. With every new patient that walk through the door, come s a exciting new challenge for me to help the patient work to get back to their physical ability they were at before their injury. The aspect of physical therapy that I’m the most worried about is the amount of time I have to spend in college to obtain my degree. Although I don’t mind spending a few extra years in college, in the back of my mind it still worries me a little bit. I can use physical therapy as a reflection of my faith in the way of helping patients who have suffered become healthy again. As Jesus before me helped cure the sick, blind, and taking away the sins of the world by dying on the cross, I plan to the best of my ability help anyone I can recover from an injury that is causing them great pain and suffering in their
Over the past summer, I had the privilege of meeting some of the best physical therapists due to my hip injury. They were charismatic, funny, helpful, and I loved being around them. During my senior year of high school, I was not interested in pursuing physical therapy. The physical therapists I met definitely changed my mind, and I am heavily leaning towards practicing physical therapy. In the field of physical therapy, there are many types of sub-specialty practices that I could pursue. I believe orthopedic physical therapy is what I want to specialize in due to what I have experienced in my life.
From a young age I was interested in the medical field. As I became more exposed to the various options, I decided physical therapy was the right career for me. My experience has proved the field to be interesting and fun. I enjoy working with people and the versatility of therapy. There are many areas to specialize in and I look forward to learning which one is right for me. At the moment I am interested in pediatric acute care but I am also interested in sports and orthopedics. As I continue my studies, I look forward to learning about the different fields in which physical therapy will take me. My future views may change which physical therapy field I wish to pursue, but right now I look forward to learning as much as I can about physical therapy and helping others.
In five years, I see myself entering the physical therapist world. I plan to be applying for my first physical therapist job and gain experience. If I do not get that far, I will still be doing education to further my knowledge in the career field to help me with possibilities for the best job I can
From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses and other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and contentment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. Growing up everyone wanted to become a doctor or a nurse and as a little child being a doctor or a nurse was a profession many parents wanted their child to pursue as a career. Needless to say, I fell into that category because I had high hopes that one day I will become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt.

When I was a kid, I tried every sport out there. I was in basketball, softball, and even gymnastics. From all those sports, excluding gymnastics, I realized that I do not enjoy the pressure of competing directly with another team. Because of that, I quit each of them after a year or two. Dance I continued throughout elementary school and until now. In middle school and high school I added other activities, like cheerleading, speech, show choir, and more.
The profession I plan to pursue after graduation is Physical Therapy. Physical Therapist are clinicians who work in a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, orthopedic institutes, and nursing homes to name a few. These highly skill professionals diagnose and treat folks who have medical problems, athletic injuries, or other deteriorating health conditions involving their musculoskeletal system. Patients are sent to physical therapists in order to get "hands on" on care for their conditions. In order to maintain a healthier lifestyle, physical therapists exercise prevention techniques with their patients. These techniques could include developing fitness exercises and wellness programs that can be consistently followed by their patients. As I grew older, I developed an attraction towards sports medicine/rehabilitation which could be exemplified by my profession of choice. Physical Therapists are able to combine health with athletes involved in sports, a niche I could definitely see myself in the future.
I am an athlete. I am strong and fast and ready for physical challenges just as much as I am for the mental trials of school. Being athletic has always been an important part of who I am, from elementary school soccer to middle school cross country to high school and hockey. My achievements in this field have always made me deeply proud. Any challenge I faced I did head on. No matter the cost. So on May 11, 2014 when I found myself hardly able to walk to the office on a knee that burned with pain, I was finally faced with a challenge that I couldn’t walk off. And the cause was a microscopic kiddie slide far too small for me and a terrible decision.
