When I was little my parents always encouraged and helped me to try anything I wanted to try. When I wanted to try dance, my Mom enrolled me in classes for ballet and tap dancing. It was great, especially the tap dancing, however, since I was at such a young age I valued sleep more than my dance lessons, and lost interest. The next thing I tried was soccer. It was a lot of fun and I kept up with it for many years. I think the reason that I loved it so much was because the whole time I played, I had the same supportive teammates and encouraging coach, we were truly a team. Alas, it was too good to last. It wasn 't until the team finally broke up that I started to slowly lose interest in soccer as well, and my involvement tapered off. She was able to get me in touch with her Physical Therapist once I expressed interested. I finished two days of volunteering and shadowing a practicing the Physical Therapist and seeing what they did on an average day. I was hooked. I started to research what it meant to be a Physical Therapist and how they could help others in numerous ways, and in so many different settings. I decided then and there that that was what I wanted to do in life. I can’t wait get started on learning the skills and knowledge to excel in my chosen field, and while I know it won’t be easy, I will work as hard and as diligent as I can to reach my goals, not only to become a Physical Therapist but to also be the first in my family to graduate college.
