▪ What are the qualities you think make for a successful university student? How have you demonstrated such qualities in the past?

From my expansive involvement both in and outside of school, I have discovered that my constant thirst for learning and my drive to achieve beyond my comfort zone will play a vital for university success. My self-motivation to improve persistently will therefore cause me to want to align all habits and work ethics in order to conquer goals. In every aspect of my daily life, I always ensure that I am reflecting my full potential, even if it translates to coming out of my shell. Along with extensive training, learning to embrace new challenges and communicate as a team has led to outstanding achievements at competitions. Because of my passion for this dance form, I also began taking on a leadership role by helping teach some of the junior classes at my studio, two years ago, for five hours a week. In addition, I am a long distance runner and have raced both representing my school in the cross-country team, and independently in half marathon events. My exceptional results in these events are due to the persistence and determination I demonstrate each time I train and compete. I have applied these strong work habits in my schooling as well. As a result, I have earned consistent academic honor rolls with distinction, as well as work ethics awards every year. In particular, I enjoy biology and human geography, due to my keen interest in how humans and the environment coexist. Throughout my education and community work, I have consistently proven my ambition, leadership skills, and dedication in every challenge presented. With each obstacle I encounter, it is my initial instinct to fully submerge myself until I am confident that I have given my 100%. For example, when I dared myself to complete a half marathon, I spent the following months waking up at 5, multiple times a week to train toward this goal. I dedicated my time, and ultimately my full effort, in order to fulfill my ambition. My leadership skills are reflected in the various groups I lead on a regular basis, including the junior acrobatic classes at my dance studio, the Youth in Action humanitarian club at my school, and the dance council at my school. Successfully leading large groups of individuals, require confidence, clear direction and flexibility. I believe these characteristics are the roots to my strong leadership skills.
