behavior is very important and students behavior often needs to be monitored. The principal of my school is considering whether or not eight grade students should be graded not only on academics but also on their behavioral performance. Of course grading students on behavior is a superb idea because it is a fantastic way for parents to determine how their children actitute is like while they are not present, students grades and behavior will also improve is they know that they are being graded on behavior. Overall it is a splendid and beneficial idea to grade students on behavior it should absolutely be done.
Not only should students be graded on academics but also on behavior, when students behavior is being graded parents reciev a report of how their children are acting while they are not present. if students behavior is not being graded parents must solely go by what the child is telling them, the child could easily be lying to them or keeping information about what occured to themselves. now parents would have a full report not just a few letters and short comments about how their child is behaving.parents are not always informed about what is happening behing closed doors of the school it would be fantastic for them to have something else to refere to for this information. the parents will know how students truely are acting not just if they are intellegent and can make amazing grades all year. if parents see behavior problems that studnts otherwise keep hidden in a report, then they will be able to help and work with them on improving. it is important and necessary for parents to be aware of their childs behavior in school, grading students on behavior is the perfect way to keep parents informed. furthermore, if students are aware that they are being graded on behavior this will influence them to improve their behavior. many students will not pass up the oppurtinity to recieve an eassy grade. when students are repremanded after misbehavior they often try to find excuses and escape punishment (some do). when behavior is graded there would be no escape, that would be like getting crettid for incomplete work. just like students must learn and complete assignments students must learn to behave. many students who did not previously behave will beging to inorder to avoid disapointing and being repremanded by their parents when they recive their childs behavior reports.

In my classroom the first behavior system I would have for all students is a green, yellow, and red chart. Every student’s name will be on a clothes pin and they will start off on green at the beginning of the day. Each student will get one free warning to stop what they are doing and do the right thing. If the student is giving a “bad attitude” because of an assignment, then I could design a reinforcement schedule to alter the “bad attitude” to a “good attitude.” If the student completes the assignment in the classroom, then the student will be rewarded with a token for the “good attitude.”
What do you think of when you hear the word “Behavioral Education”? Unfortunately, the children in these classes are usually stereotyped as the “future criminals of America”. Fortunately, due to the dedication of behavioral self-contained teachers, these children are striving to become functioning members of society everyday. With just a little patience, consistency, and a strict class setting- these kids are transforming and are constantly beating the odds. With the right understanding types of behavioral education settings, reasons behind behaviors, classroom management, and behavior management it becomes easy to understand how these “problem children” are so easily converted of their ways after only a year or two within these programs.
I can guarantee that punishment is not the answer. Punishment is a suggestion made by reformers (Postman, 311), but it is the absolute worst decision that can be made in our schools. When students get out of school suspension (OSS), they treat it as a vacation day and most of them use it to play video games, and they still get to make up the work they missed. A countless amount of kids in my high school did exactly that. On another side of that, punishment is giving a student attention. Not a great kind of attention, but attention nonetheless. Schools should find a way to discipline them better so they will not interrupt or disrupt other students while learning and still get their education and not fall behind grades wise. This new grading scale is more to a help at raising scoring and funding than allowing students to learn the information in a way that will be reliable in the future. The no zero grading policy may allow students to pass, it may even encourage them to continue to stay in school, but it is not helping the children to be successful in society. Are colleges excepting this new grading scale? As most colleges except a new student for their grades and work ethics. Williams it’s very busy with learning stuff everywhere. The classroom has different section called ‘centers’ like the library. In the middle is where the desk are placed they are grouped into 5-6 student at each table. I immediately noticed some negative behavior management on the part of the teacher by yelling at the students that wasn’t listening to her instructions. Another behavior management tool that doesn’t seems to work completely well was the point system that give or take a point from any student based on their behavior or action throughout the day. Most students seem to not be so thrilled or fazed by losing a point or when they gained one. But the teacher used this system quite frequent to make her point and take action. An action taking by the teacher that I felt was problematic is when she questioned a student that was better behaved, if another student was misbehaving.
