In the article Does Suspending Students Work? By Christopher J. Ferguson it talks about how it does and does not work. I agree with the side of it does not work. I simply agree with this because if you get suspended you miss a lot of class time, no one at home will teach you how to act better since parents are at work and it states this might lead up to legal problems as adults. I believe suspending kids and making them miss school does not work because no one is at home during the day since parents have to work. It's kind of like giving kids a day off from school so the can relax at home and not have anything to worry about. In the article it says that “kids at home unsupervised and able to cause more problems” is a big factor on why schools should find a better way on punishing them instead of sending them home. If a kid is at home unsupervised who knows what they can do with already bad behavior. Since parents are home the can “ do nothing to teach appropriate alternative behavior nor address underlying issues then may be causing bad behavior”, this shows that if you …show more content…

Even though in the article it says that it “may disrupt the learning environment for other students” I still believe they should be given more chances since maybe at home they have no one so they don't really know between right and wrong. Schools should find a way to discipline them better so they will not interrupt or disrupt other students while learning and still get their education and not fall behind grades wise. If people fall behind it is pretty difficult to catch up and to get back on track since people are learning new things everyday it's hard to learn what you miss and learn what they are teaching today. Schools should maybe put them in detention or make them do community service on weekends so that way kids will not fall behind academically and still be in
