Sports injuries that occurred during working hours because of the mandatory three times a week physical activity has been reoccurring. During this year this has been four personal injuries that were sports related and occurred during the mandatory three times a week physical activity. This has resulted in loss work days and can be prevented from happening with some basic knowledge on how to prevent injuries. There are several different injuries that occurred during physical activity any injuries that affect the hands and legs will affect personnel from being able to work. Injuries are preventable with attention to detail being aware of surroundings and slip hazards during sports activity could prevent lost days from work.

To be able to both prevent injuries effective treatment advice the practitioner must understand the causes (Bahr, R. 2012). Looking for hazards before starting a physical activity is critical in preventing an injury during an activity. For example, while playing basketball it is important to have the right shoes on and ensuring the floor is dry and not slippery. This will prevent any falls while running up and down the basketball court. Running with the right shoes will prevent any ankle sprains or calf muscle sprains that may occur during running. Playing football you may encounter the same injuries as playing basketball and running or even worse if playing full contact football. The most common sports injury is strains and sprains that occurred during sports activity. Basketball is a sport played by many and requires running, jumping, and throwing. Depending on the position played whether offense or defense could lead to an injury. Basketball treatment can be treated by Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug the main pharmaceutical functions of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug have anti- inflammation, methadone, and fever. This medicine is non-steroidal and it can be benefit for basketball players to avoid the suspicion of using stimulant. It can be used safely by the basketball players (Bao-yuan, H., & Min-jie, H. 2014). There are other pain medications that can be used to treat an injury that can be bought over the counter. The use of home remedies rest, ice, compression and elevation could treat the injury that occurred while playing basketball. The common injuries are sprain ankles and calf sprains during running, basketball and football, which can be treated with rest, ice, compression and elevation if medication is not available for treatment. Knowing the simple steps to care for an injury could reduce the injury from getting worse because of not being able to take care of the injury within a reasonable time to prevent further injuries.
