Personal Narrative- Football Injury
The nerves are raging, mainly in his stomach as the butterflies flutter till no end. "Is everything ok? Will everything go as planned?" He couldn't stop thinking about what might happen. Images were racing wild as he thought about his teammates going to battle without him. He couldn't comprehend why he had to let them handle it on their own. He has played with them since they were in eighth grade, and when they need him the most, all he can do is sit and cheer. He hates this feeling of helplessness, but at the same time he knows he has to do what little he can do, well.
It was two days until the first game of my last high school football season. My team and I were going to play Bayfield, a battle we had persistently prepared for since the last game of our junior year. The sun was beating on my pads, radiating the heat to make practice seem even worse. I was exhausted and looking forward to the end of my last sweat poring practice for the week. Our team was repetitively executing plays to make sure they were like second nature to us on Friday.
Then, creating an unknown peace, Coach Nelson yells, "Last Play!"
The play was "Red 334"which is a run to our halfback, me, out of our dive series. I crouched over the ball as I jetted past the quarterback and ran the play so we could observe the changes we needed to make. I let out a sigh of relief because we were finished with the most dreaded part of practice; well, only until someone complained about not knowing their job on one of our pass plays. Coach Nelson undoubtedly decided we needed to run through the final pass play before we perfected our defense. The play was quietly called in the huddle with intentions of getting it right. I ran the play through my mind while I tried to remember what the snap count was and what I was supposed to do for that play. The ball was snapped and I jolted to the left of our team's quarterback to set up his backside protection. Out of my peripheral vision, I noticed the defensive end raging toward the quarterback. I intensely stepped into him while lowering my body and exploded through his shoulder pads sending him stumbling into the line's pass protection.
America’s newfound favorite pastime, football, came from a bizarre chain of events. Football started when a soccer player got fed up with just kicking the ball, so he picked up the ball and ran to the goal. His actions of picking up the ball and running with it fathered a new European sport, rugby, which was soon brought over to American shores, and was altered slightly, the shape of the ball and a few other small rules. The sport became organized into a league and produced the NFL(National Football League). The NFL had a slow beginning, but has picked up popularity, currently having a 9 billion dollar yearly revenue. Playing football comes with great costs, including physical and mental health deterioration, plus the amount of time spent prepping before game day. Which can pose several questions, “Why suffer for a game, Is it worth the money? Is it worth the fame? How great is the cost?” I believe that football, should have stricter regulations for the treatment of injuries, along with informing players of just how devastating a concussion can be, along with the other major injuries that commonly occur while playing football.
At the end of every practice our team made a circle and the two captains entered the centre beginning to lead stretches. This was all the same to me, I just remember the grass. The grass was always so green. It was bold, thick, it wanted to say something. No, it wanted to scream. How the grass contrasted with the cotton candy blue sky. The pure colours of the world around me right then and there always amazed me. The rich green grass versus the orange brown dirt of the field. The orange brown dirt of the field verses the delicate blue sky. Together they felt hand in hand.
Al Toon, father of Saints receiver Nick Toon, was forced to leave professional football after sustaining nine concussions in eight years of professional football. Football is one of the most dangerous games. As the years go on, more and more rules are being written to prevent the danger, but danger is the nature of the game. Most of these rules are for the protection of the players, but there are times when injuries can be a good thing. The Philadelphia Eagles were 3-5 to start the year, but Michael Vick was injured and the backup quarterback led the team to be 10-6, win the division, and almost beat the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs. "About 1.7 million Americans suffer a traumatic brain injury (TBI) every year, about three-quarters of them mild TBIs, or concussions" (Clemmitt). Traumatic Brain Injuries are used as the main form of evidence in Richard Cohen's claim that the end of the NFL is near, and quite frankly, his argument is pretty solid.
Sports Medicine is a medical field that specializes with physical fitness, treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. It was introduced around the early Greek and Roman era when the first modern Olympic Games took place. The Greek felt they could do something to help heal and prevent injuries that the athletes were receiving. Now in sports medicine, certain injuries can only be assessed and treated by specific physicians. These physicians can include physical therapists, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches. Although sports physicians are most commonly seen by athletes after they are hurt so they can be treated, there are some physicians that are seen before an injury occurs so that they can learn how to prevent injuries.
Have you ever been injured? By sports? If so, what injury did you have? Did you do active rehabilitation? Do you try to prevent injury when exercising? These are some questions that you might need to ask yourself when exercising or participating in sports. You also must know that there are many sports injuries as well as many ways to prevent them.
James W. Loewen wrote the book “Lies My Teacher Told Me” to help students understand the past of the United States, and how it is effecting the present time. “Lies My Teacher Told Me” looks at 12 different American history textbooks, and points out the different lies, flaws, and sugar coated stories the textbooks present. Lowen explains how textbooks practice heroification, and how race and race relations are a major issue when it comes to American history. Among these topics, Lowen also sheds light on the truth about social classes in America, and how textbooks lie about the past and try to avoid the recent past all together.
Yeah! Welcome back to total Pro Sports. We could make a list hundreds of entries long that show the most graphic videos of injuries on the field. It would be pretty awful honestly, so while this list takes inventory of in-game sports injuries it doesn’t feature the terrible Paul George type things that make you walk around dog pale for the next four hours, rather these are the iconic sports injuries more akin to battle scars. They’re cool, not disturbing, at least I think so, your mileage may vary. So here are a few of the worst injuries that athletes have played through. We kept the MMA and boxing stuff off this list because those can get really graphic and we’re more looking for the kinds of injuries that produce iconic images, and now, the nine most iconic sports injuries of all time.
Sporting injuries can be a very stressful, emotional and sensitive time for that of an athlete. Whether the athlete be recreational or elite, the prevalence of injury can be a traumatic, nerve-wracking experience. For competitive athletes in particular, there can be heightened levels of despair, frustration, fury and confusion with add-on effects such as loss-of confidence and fear of returning to the game (Evans et al 2006). According to Marjorie (1997) the occurrence of an injury not only temporarily incapacitates but places an athlete in a world with no guarantees or predictable outcomes. Injury rehabilitation is an essential element which allows injured athletes to return to previous fitness and begin to again play their chosen sport. However a hindrance of an athlete’s performance and return may be due to the psychological images, thoughts and judgements which fill the athlete’s head. Sports injuries are extremely common and have huge prevalence rates worldwide. According to Nicholl, et al (2003), it is estimated that 29.7million sporting injuries occur in Ireland and the British Isles and a total of 991 million euro can be attributed towards treatment and at loss of working days. Walden et al (2005) found in a prospective study that the injury frequency among international elite soccer players was 9.4 injuries per 1000 hours of sport related activity of any sort. In addition, Hagglund (2007) reported that 65% to 95% of players had at least one injury per year. Indeed, the sporting settings places frequent and rigorous strain on the body and almost universally involves the acceptance of a risk of injury, such universality is not evident in other occupational spheres (Flint 1998). Participation in sports is ex...
The horn blew and the game started, Dedham won the face off and is running down the field at a faster pace than I was used to. They shot the ball! I couldn’t move my stick quick enough to save it, so I threw my body in front of it and got hit right in the shoulder. It hurt a lot, but what I hadn’t realized was that it hit my shoulder and reflected ten feet away from the net where my player caught it and ran down the field and scored. The other team didn’t know what hit them. It was the half now and the score was three to nothing in our favor. Our couch told us that we needed to keep up the good work.
Comprehensive sex education should be taught in public schools. The youth of today cannot make educated decisions regarding sex if they are not properly educated. Not educating America’s youth in all aspects of sex education is comparable to allowing them to drive without being taught. This choice of not allowing comprehensive sex education is schools is dangerous and can have life long consequences. These consequences will not only affect the individual but can ultimately affect America. It is vital for Americans to begin giving their youth the education that is needed.
Parallel Computing, in its basic sense, is multiple operations being carried out simultaneously, that is, a problem can be divided into sub problems which can be solved concurrently. Throughout the history, attempts have been made and have been successful to increase the degree of parallelism in computing as much as possible. During this course, many restrictions have been encountered and alongside the possible solutions were suggested by the brightest minds. Parallelism can be divided in many ways:
As children grow, they accumulate knowledge over the years about a variety of subjects to prepare them for the future. Children learn from parents, schools, life experiences, what they watch and other influences around them, and it can be either positive learning or negative learning. There is one subject that is difficult to teach and have control over because of misunderstandings, lack of teaching, and publicity. Sex education has been a major debate for children under eighteen, because there are some parents that want it taught in schools and others that do not because of different reasons. There are currently eighteen states and the District of Columbia that require schools to provide sex education and thirty-two that do not require sex education. “There is no federal law that requires public schools to teach sex education or what should be taught” (Glander). While the parents and schools are debating whether sex education should be taught, children are out participating in sexual activities without any knowledge of protection and consequences, such as pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STD)s. “Sixty-six percent of American high school students have had sexual intercourse by their senior year” (Masland). Sex education should be taught in schools, because some parents do not talk to their children about sex, schools can possibly teach it better and make it easier to understand, and there are too many things in the society that is sexual based and confuse the children if not taught to them early.

...nsive apparel or shoes. It's about wearing pieces that make I feel good about my community. Fashion has become a tool for achieving an understanding of culture and tradition with the inner world and a way of revealing or concealing peculiarities. Clothing is a fathomless notion, it exhibits the hard work and efforts of the user, and fashion stands beside us as we solve the formula of personality. Every style has a specific meaning and they represent our heart to link people around the world together as a united family. Indeed, fashion generates many negative consequences; it displays cumbersome identity till you accustomed to them, but if it doesn’t hurt people in the way “I want to be myself”, I believe fashion is acceptable. Summing it up, fashion is a daily way to embrace art and express who you are. So, why wouldn’t fashion is a part of a personality’s identity?
The principle behind the Parallel Computing Method is that, large problems are subdivided into smaller ones, and all these sub problems are solved at the same time, either on the same processor or on the different processor [6]. The main purpose to do that is to reduce the time
