The skill development guideline that I picked was from the secretary and privacy discussion. I picked the second guideline, which is to “disclose secrets to an accepting confidant.” I decided to chose this one because like most other people, I keep a lot of secrets to myself and I recently had a situation where I had to debate with myself to tell my parents something that had happened or to just keep it a secret. I was thinking about what topic to do this paper on while I was at the library when my car got towed, so naturally this was a perfect topic at the time. On November 6th, my car was towed right out of my friend’s driveway at her house. Her driveway is very hidden and she explained to me that the tow company has a right to check driveways
Chapter three of “Interplay: The Process of Interpersonal Communication” demonstrates a models of “self-disclosure that can help better understand how self-revelation operates in our relationships(pg 87).” By learning about self-disclosure and understanding the models, I was able to understand the effects and process of self- disclosure between my parent and I. It illustrated how self-revealing can be effective in making the relationship between my parents and I stronger and more efficient in understanding one another.

The first strategy is to provide value added feedback to employees. Critical Talent both expect and deserve feedback at other times that just at performance reviews. Feedback needs to be regular, specific, timely, and valuable to the employee.
This essay witnesses my personal learning and teaching style and strategy. I aim to set forth the aspects of teaching and learning that I find help me become a better health care professional. Three of the major learning theories are discussed in order to find the skill sets that each bring to the table. By choosing the skills required in a clinical environment we can pick the required strategy accordingly. I believe that a unique combination of the tree theories where each is able to play to its strength and overshadow its weaknesses is the best teaching-learning strategy.

The “Nurse of the Future Core Competencies Self Assessment Tool (SSAT)” has eleven core competencies that are vital to every nurse on the floor. It include: Patient-Centered Care, Professionalism, Leadership, System-Based Practice, Informatics and Technology, Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, Safety, Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, and Nursing Knowledge.
The one skill that I used more of was empathy; I wanted the client to know that I understood her situation as well her feelings. At the end of our conversation, I summarized everything that we talked about, especially her want to open up to her parents and express herself to them. She mentioned that she wants them to fell empathy towards her, because the lack of parental empathy that she felt when she was younger, has even affected her in her adult life (Kilpatrick,2005).
The counseling session began with the introductions where I introduced myself as the counselor and later introduced my client. This stage is important in any counseling session since it is the time of exploration and focusing according to Gerard Egan as quoted by Wright (1998) in his essay on couselling skills. It is in this session that I was able to establish rapport and trust with my client in order to come up with a working and fruitful relationship with him. During this stage I made use of skills like questioning, where I would pose a question directly to my client, sometimes I would choose to just listen to what the client wanted to speak out while in some instances I would be forced to paraphrase the question if I felt the client did not understand the question I had asked previously. There were also other times when I would reflect through silence. During such a period, I got time to study the client and the information he had given. This being a difficult area, since some clients may not be able to volunteer information to you as the counselor, I decided to assure the client of confidentiality of any information he was willing to share with me with a few exceptions which I also told him about. Being open to him about the only times the information may not be confidential was part of my building rapport and establishing trust with him. I therefore, decided to ask the client what information he wanted to share with me and lucky enough he was ready to speak to me about different issues that he was going through.
David Burkos stated that the skills theory grew from the obvious flaw in the trait approach; traits are relatively fixed. This meant that trait theory was not particularly useful for developing new leaders who lack those traits. Skills theorists sought to discover the skills and abilities that made leaders effective. Similar to trait theory, skills theories are leader-centric, focused on what characteristics about leaders make them effective. The two primary theories to develop from a skills approach were Katz’sthree-skill approach and Mumford’s skills model of leadership.

Transferrable skills development is essential in order to increase one’s chance in their career fields. While this is an important aspect of job searching, most students do not spend enough time to enhance these skills. There are various opportunities where a student is able to develop these skills, including post-secondary institutes and work placements.
