Have you ever wondered how many substances a cigarette has? There are more than 7,000 chemical components found in cigarette and hundreds of them are harmful to human health, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Smoking is one of the worst addictions for Americans and it is so hard to stop. Heart.org say that smoking can cause heart disease, strokes and other chronic lung diseases and can also increase the risk of obtaining cancer in the bladder, throat and mouth, kidneys, cervix and pancreas. Smoking can cause serious problems to people all ages and they run a risk of dying earlier that nonsmokers. Even though there are specific areas where you can smoke, it does not make a difference. People still smoke in the No-smoking areas and still smoke around people. I personally hate walking pass a person knowing that they are smoking and that I can be affected by inhaling the smoke. Separating smokers from nonsmokers or cleaning the air and ventilation systems do not eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke. Police should enforce these laws so that innocent lives could be saved. We should at least have a rule where you can only smoke in places where you cannot expose people to the cigarette smoke. For instance, if a pregnant woman passes by while someone is just outside smoking bad things can happen to the baby she has inside when he/she is born. Based on The American Pregnancy Association Some of the health conditions associated with being exposed to second hand smoke are miscarriage, low birth weight, early birth, learning or behavioral deficiencies in your child, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a disorder where an infant can die unexpectedly while they are sleeping. Therefor I think people should keep in mind that they are not only hurting themselves but also innocent lives are being lost by what they are doing.
