Nursing Home
Sociology is every where, constantly there are people in groups, groups of friends, gropes at work, and groups in family’s. You can’t truly get away from them. Even at senior citizen’s homes there is constantly groups of elderly people. I had the privilege of volunteering at an old people’s home were I got to see sociology in action. In this paper I am going to be talking about what I observed wile I was interacting with the senior citizens and what types of sociology I saw while doing this. when we arrived at pinnacle ridge nursing home few weeks ago I was very hesitant. I thought the elderly people would not really care if I was there or not. I thought they would be mean to me and the group of people I was with. However, to my surprised they where not any of those things. The elderly where egger to talk to us. I could see in that moment when we walked into the building the joy on there faces.
That night, we had planed a night full of bingo and worship songs. We even brought some backed goods to share with everyone. We then broke out into groups, one playing bingo and the other singing songs to the elderly. When my group made are way to the section lounge room, I noticed that all the elderly where siting by themselves and they were hardly having any conversation with on another. However, when I or someone else went to go talk to one of them they would automatically be engaged in what I or the others was saying. they didn’t want us to stop talking to them. What I heard the most in those three hours was “we are really glade you guys came. this makes I so happy, you guys should come back and see us.” So we did.

Sense thee are fewer man at this nursing home. There more likely to experience low sex drive and woman take control. What I noticed at the nursing home was the men were very quiet and didn’t talk much but once the woman would come and talked to them they would light up. I noticed with fewer men the woman has to take control. The men are organized into women’s movement.
Volunteering at this nursing home really help me see how people interact and helped me see how to apply sociology to what I observed in the two times I volunteered at the elderly home. I honestly really enjoyed this assignment because I am a people watcher and I have always wonder why people act the way they do. Knowing how to apply sociology to what I got to observed, I know will help me later own in my future career
