According to Mihaela Rus, most people categorize abuse into two categories; physical and sexual. It goes much further than that. In her article, Psychological aspects of child abuse, Rus tells us about the five different types of child abuse; physical, sexual, economic, emotional, and neglection. In most abusive situations, the child will grow up to have many psychological problems. “The main causes of abuse are; poverty, illiteracy, exploitation and vulnerability, violence, education, alcohol, drugs, and mental illness.” (Rus, 503) As a result, the future of the grown up will be dependent on what kind of abuse he/she experienced.
Emotional abuse is any inappropriate behavior directed towards children that includes rejection, forced isolation, terrorization, ignoration, humiliation, and corruption. Depending on the frequency and intensity, emotional abuse can permanently damage one’s mind. It can affect social and professional life, relationships and physical and mental health. Rus states that 90% of people were emotionally abused in childhood and do not realize that it is not natural or normal. It hurts their kids because they do not even think about what they are doing. They are just used to that kind of treatment so it carries with them and they emotionally abuse their own kids. There is no way to prove emotional abuse, so the law cannot penalize it. This makes emotional abuse so easy for the parents a common form of child abuse.

The third type of abuse, economic, is forcing a child to do income generating activities and benefitting from the profit. Economic...

...teful for not being abused as a child or having to go through any form of that. “Any action that causes injury or psycho-emotional disorders is an abuse”. (Rus, 499)
In conclusion, Mihaela Rus based her article on fact and facts only. She does not put any of her opinions or her personal views in her writing. I think she did a great job at getting the point across and would definitely recommend it to anyone. So many emotions come with reading this article. I had no clue about any of this. All of the statistics and ratios are shocking. It really is an eye opener. It informs you of the real world and what many people you know are going through or have gone through. “Child abuse casts a shadow the length of a lifetime.” (Herbert Ward)
