INTRODUCTION

The American creed is that there are unalienable rights of “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness” for all the citizens within America. Therefore, why are there barriers within the workplace such as discrimination? Discrimination in the workplace is a common occurrence, mostly resulting from the differences in employees' morals, values, and personalities. Dealing with discrimination in a rational manner is important to maintaining a vigorous work environment. Believing that a conflict such as discrimination will simply fade away is an inaccurate assumption to make. The reason being is that situation such as those dealing with discrimination, needs immediate and prompt attention. If avoided, law suits, discriminating complaints, poor company reputation, and violent acts may occur as a result. Managers should be aware of such acts of discrimination, so that a solution is found before the issues become unmanageable. This issue was addressed in the past decades of America’s history. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was enacted to get rid of severely embedded patterns of employment discrimination against persons because of their race, religion, sex, or national origin. Even now there still exist a strong opposition to enforcement of present laws and political opposition to counteractive fair hiring practices. .... Basically, when there was further research conducted on racial discrimination in the hiring process, there were continuous websites that rejected entrance and required passwords to enter. Thirdly, when this paper was assigned, there was a lack of research prior to writing the paper. After consulting with multiple librarians and there were still multiple obstacles for obtaining information. Receiving a sum of research from self-reported data may be flawed information at the time but later on during the paper, this information will be very important in structuring the paper and furthering research.

• Creed: a statement of the basic beliefs of a religion

• Racial Discrimination: To treat differently a person or group of people based on their racial origins.
