Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce Knowles, Justin Beiber, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Zac Efron, and Taylor Swift are all the oldest child in their family (Famous First Borns, Pressner, 1). Each of them has special traits that helped them get to where they are. Almost every oldest child possesses these attributes. They obtain them through their parents’ actions and siblings. These traits can help them succeed in life, but can also burden them. The oldest child is a responsible leader who is an overachiever.
The oldest child owns strong leadership characteristics. When the oldest child gets younger siblings, they have the chance to become a leader (Renkl, 2). They take care and lead their siblings while the siblings look up to the oldest child. As a result, the oldest child develops leadership skills (Teague, 2). This trait can be beneficial or harmful. Leading their siblings can boost their self-esteem (Renkl, 2). Also, the oldest child likes to be in charge of projects, and they like it when people stick to rules and order (Pressner, Whitbourne, 1). They want to be in charge and in control of what is happening. The oldest child may want people to do something a certain way. When people do not listen, they get upset. They can be bossy and controlling because of their leadership skill (Anders, 2). This can give the oldest child trouble with making friends (Renkl, 2). Some oldest children may feel like everyone relies on them (Birth Order, 5). This attribute may seem bad as a child, but it will serve them well as an adult. The firstborn is most likely to take a leadership position. George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Essay about Birth Order Personality Traits

- Birth Order Personality Traits It is easy to wonder how two children from the same family can turn out so differently, with completely different personalities and ways of solving problems. Recognizing the immense influence of family dynamics on young children can clear up a lot of the confusion. For example, eldest children look to their parents as role models for their behavior, and may become perfectionistic as parents expect them to act like little adults. Middle children may become more dependent on peer approval and their friends because they tend to get relatively less attention within their families....   [tags: Papers]

Essay on How Birth Order and Family Size Affect Personality Traits

- Is there a “personality tag” for each child depending on their birth order. Does the family size, or the parents’ life styles affect anything. Birth order is more than just an old wives’ tale about predicting the personalities of each child in every family. Blair states, “Birth order, put in its proper context, is a key that can unlock personalities and give you a new perspective on human nature” (1). Every child of every family has a personality tag, which is determined by their spot on their immediate family tree....   [tags: Family, Individuality, Personality Tag]

The Birth Order Effect On Children Essay

- The Birth Order Effect Growing up with two other siblings I always wondered how we could come from the same parents, yet act nothing alike. My sister, Shaylan, is the oldest, I am the middle child, and my brother, Braden, is the youngest. It was not until I took psychology in high school that led me to believe that our birth order might have something to do with our differences. I have decided to put this theory to the test using my own life experience and that of my siblings to see if the many studies that have been conducted are true....   [tags: Sibling, Birth order, Big Five personality traits]

Essay about Who Is The Oldest For A Young Child?

- To a young child, their family may mean the world to them. To a child going to family reunions and seeing their grandparents is quite enjoyable. When I hear the word grandmother I think of an adorable elderly woman who spoils me and allows me to pick through the bottom of her purse for the last piece of candy. Sadly, that was far from my reality....   [tags: Family, Mother, The Time, Paisley Park Records]
