Guidelines to Selecting Toys for Young Children There are many vital factors that go into deciding what toy to buy for a young child. Choosing a toy can be fun and exciting to research, but it’s important for the person to follow appropriate guidelines. As far as safety goes, one of the most crucial things to look for when you are deciding what toy to purchase is how it is made. You have to check for hinges that could pinch fingers or skin, small pieces that can potentially fall off and become choking hazards, as well as sharp edges that could pierce the child's skin. When you are picking out a toy for a single child, you do not have to take into consideration some of the things that are most important to a child care provider. One of those things is the versatility of the toy. Can it be used by both boys and girls? Or does it have a gender defining color? A gender neutral color and theme is important so that you don't deter a certain sex from using it. Also, you want to make sure it is challenging for the child, but not frustrating. Choosing a toy that is at the child's age level is another thing to look at so that they can enjoy the toy without a lot of aggravation. If the child is challenged, it will amuse them for a good amount of time. Picking a toy out that will be used by children a child care facility is task in and of itself. You can practice counting by counting the animals one by one. Additionally, the children can name the animals and their noises. They can also practice recognizing their shapes by naming the shapes that make up the barn.
Children in this age group love to play pretend so they will defiantly love pretending to be a farmer with all of their animals, or even pretend to be the animals.
Likewise, Parents would love this toy. It is easily transported because all of the parts fit in the barn and snap closed so that you can take it with you. This would be great for learning the name of the animals included and their sounds. Additionally, after the age of five; they can still use it to play pretend. These are just a few of the reasons why parents would love this toy.
Of course, I would defiantly choose this toy because of the educational value. The endless lessons this provides is great.
