I am in the process of obtaining my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education with the focus on Special Education. I began college courses towards this degree back in 2009 when I started working at a local daycare. In that semester I took four courses to become a full-time student, in which I took the most important courses at that time. I took some time off after the fall 2009 semester and the spring 2010 semester, due to the pregnancy and birth of my daughter. Once my daughter was in preschool each weekday, I decided to go back to school for the fall 2015 semester. I have been taking courses since then with no breaks in between in hopes to obtain my degree next year. With this semester, I will not be considered a full-time student due to these courses only being 3 credit hours each. To be a full-time student, I would need 12 credit hours and these courses will only count for 9 credit hours total. Due to time restraints and the availability of the courses needed, I am only able to take these three courses next semester. Once the spring 2017 semester is completed, I will have a total of 67 credit hours of the 69 credit hours required for the degree. I will obtain the last credit hours from the remaining course that I will complete fall of 2017, which is the practicum (internship) course. The practicum (internship) course, will count as 4 credit hours and that will actually put me over the required credit hour number of 69 to 71.
