Negatives Outcomes of Part Time Jobs Parents are wondering if it is a good idea for their children to get a part time job while in high school. People argue students should not get a job while in high school because it could have a bad impact in their lives by not being able to administer the money they earn in a good way, lowering their GPA, distracted them from school assignments, increase high stress levels and eventually the students take decision to drop out of school. The purpose of going to school is to later find a job but this could be an obstacle in the students thinking by believing why should they keep attending school if they have a job already. Earning money at the age can be dangerous, parents should be aware of what their children are spending their money on. At the time they believe that the money they are earning is a good amount but because they are not paying rent or bills. By having a job your time dedicated to school decreases because the student has new responsibilities. A personal experience that I have that supports my point is of my best friend and I we attended community college for a year together. The first semester we have all classes together and we both were getting good grades but as soon as she got a part time job everything changed. We used to study together for classes because we had the same major but suddenly because of her job she did not have time to meet and work in the assignments. She made the mistake of putting her job as the most important thing and placing her educational goal in a second term. The results appear immediately when we took the first exam after she started working her grade change dramatically from earing A’s and B’s on test she began to get C’s. As a result of her grades getting lower, she started to lose motivation to school and started working more hours which eventually lead her to miss classes. She asked me if I wanted to work there with her but I said no because I wanted to focus on college and did not want any distraction. I saw her transformation from being an honor roll student to no caring about school to make the study short two months after she started working she dropped
