Students spend four years of their lives attending high school. Going through high school is mandatory as it prepares them for college and strength to face “the real world.” Having part-time jobs has become the phenomenon among high school students and many students follow this trend as well. Moreover, there are some pros and cons attached with it. Though it may seem like working throughout high school is a bad idea, it could better prepare students for “the real world.” Although some people believe that the primary duty of a student is studying, I am of the opposite position. I strongly support the idea that high school students should work throughout high school. This is because they can earn money, become responsible and get experience. One of the advantage is that students can earn money. Some high school students have to earn money on their own to pay their future college’s tuition fees while some students just earn money to pay for their expenditure or satisfy their desires. High school students don’t have to be dependent on their parents for money. Money can make t...
Today in American society, one feels pressured and obligated to seek higher levels of education. In the article “College prepare people for life” written by Freeman Hrabowski, he expresses his views on the many aspects in which college prepares one for their life; especially, financially. Having a college degree increases ones ability to get a job in comparison to somebody who has solely a high school diploma. However, many are faced with the irony of having to go into to debt, in order to work towards financial independence and security. In terms of socio economics, those who are stuck by poverty often cannot afford going into debt to exit their current ranking in the qazi caste system of poverty. Many argues that college prepares people for life, however one can disagree due to
According to the author of “Cash Courses”, “The monetary rewards motivate many kids, especially those from underprivileged families, to come to class when they would otherwise stay home” (“Cash Courses” 1). Students who come from families who do not have a lot of money, will want to attend school to earn extra money to use for themselves to buy basic necessities. Rewards motivate students to attend school; therefore, they obtain more knowledge given by the teacher
These unofficial requirements for university become a one reason of increasing stress of the applicants. Students needs to concentrate on going to college during their high school years. Unfortunately, not only students get stress while applying to college, but they also get stress after they enroll into college. Due to expensive tuition bill, some of the students need to take student loan. Cook concludes by arguing that high schools should support their students not only enrolling into college, but also basic skills which can be used after college, and college admission processes are needed to be change.
The critical challenge within in today’s society is that college tuition should be free or if not free, more affordable for all students. Certainly, higher education should not be considered a luxury where only the wealthy could afford, but an opportunity for all caste systems. It must be an accessible and affordable opportunity for all students in order for them to invest in their education. Higher education is important because it provides more careers to choose from than the careers offered without having a college degree. Ultimately, the issue here is whether it is right to make college tuition more affordable for the students.
Although a college education grows more and more expensive every year. People begin to question whether college is a good idea to invest in or not. “As college costs continue to rise, students and their families are looking more carefully at what they are getting for their money. Increasingly, they are finding that the college experience falls short of their expectations”(Cooper. H Mary). Many people believe that the cost of a college degree has outstripped the value of a degree.Studies show that a college degree will increase your earning power. A lot of people say that a college degree now is worth what a high school diploma was wor...
Students’ wouldn’t be able to hold down a job is the second reason they shouldn’t dropout of high school. Many employers would like to have someone who has been too high school and that have been educated so they can handle money and add things p...
There are many concerns that students have when they are going to attend a college such as financial issues, preparing themselves, and adapting to their new environment. By creating a way of gathering money to pay for college will ease the concern of not being able to afford it. Giving students more of a challenge in big school will prepare them for the more difficult work they will need to accomplish. Creating a good suitable environment for themselves, they can excel greatly at the college they
Most high school students need money to pay for a car and other essentials they may need or want (Adults Aren't the Only Ones That Need to Make Money). And in most cases the students have to earn this money by themselves with no parental help. It is very common to see high school students getting jobs over the summer because it is their time off and they need the income. But, it can be very hard to juggle a job, school work, and a social life when your school is year round. And in top of that most highschool students are athletes or involved in other extra curricular activities that take up time before or after school.
In modern times, it comes as no surprise that there are a plethora of issues and negative occurrences throughout the traditional educational system. Schooling is not a choice, but a mandatory duty that each and every child must fulfill almost daily. Depending on grade level and work load, the average student spends nearly 8 hours per day either learning in school or completing assignments from that day (U.S. Bureau). This indicates that a majority of a secondary education student’s time is consumed by school and school related work. Because this is an obligatory role, it is imperative that these students are not being forced to do such work, but instead are interested and engaged so that they may enjoy this work. Although there is a multitude of reasons that a student may do poorly in school, a substantial cause is the flaws with the grade level system that most schools implicate. The elimination of grade level systems is not entirely unheard of or practiced, but it has not been extricated enough to show the advantages of alternative schooling systems.
First College students should not work while going to school because there is no time. In College you already have no time for anything. Adding a job you can say goodbye to a few essential things. Like for instance school you have less time to do things for your classes. Studying is a main thing for school and ...
There are a lot of theories when it comes to students and jobs. Many state that students do poorly and are distracted while others say it does nothing to students. There is a certain theory by Professor Laurence Steinberg in which he states its affecting students negatively. In “Part-Time Employment Undermines Students’ Commitment to School”, Professor Laurence Steinberg explains the conflict between school and work. Steinberg states that students who work during the school year tend to get lower grades in school than those who do not work. In my opinion, I feel as though his research may have had its mistakes because he only did the research on high school students’ instead of college students; doing the research on college students would of helped Steinberg get more a accurate result.
It is very common that many high school students hold part time jobs while going to school. When these teens work, they are able to learn and experience life lessons from ethical and moral work. Knowing that school is aways and should be a priority, students should work while in high school because working helps students be more responsible with their lives, help them practice time managment, and also helps students see and experience the real world.
Nowadays, more students do part-time job during their school days to earn money or to have practical experience. In this essay, I am going to compare and contrast the different attitudes toward students doing part-time job in China and USA. In China, there are only a few types of part-time job, such as shopkeeper and working in factories. However, in USA, it is possible for students to work in various kinds of shop or even work as intern in companies. As a result, there are
Nowadays in the era of globalization, students are encouraged to have work part-time that will create them to become more experienced in their future, teach them to become more independent and mature in real life. Although the students have enough money to pay their fees and able to accommodate the necessities of life but we totally agree that the working part-time should be encouraged because work part-time can give more benefits to students. According to King and Bannon (2002, p. 2), more than 50 percent of full-time students have jobs and “nearly 46% of all full-time employed students work 25 hours or more.” As students work more, they have less time to become engaged in campus life both inside and outside the classroom. Many students love to have part-time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the students nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the students are working part-time jobs and some have the intention to work. When we are in any fast food restaurant, supermarket or shop, there are must be school students who are working. Besides, students can gain a lot of experiences, students should be encouraged to work part-time because they can learn new skills and learn how to manage their financial properly.
Nowadays, the numbers of students who are always looking for a part time job while they are attending college is increasing every day. According to an article was published in 1998 on The Futurist, the number of students who have a part-time job increased from 5% of students in the 1950s to almost 70% of the students in some communities (“Jobs hurt school performance” n. page). Because of a bunch of fee and cost that students have to handle, working during college seems to be a necessity than an option. The part-time jobs provide not only paychecks but also experience, skills for the students. It is very helpful for the students after they graduate college and look for a real job. Although there are some people who argue that having a job during
