Personal Philosophy of Nursing In this nursing philosophy paper I will be sharing some information about my personal philosophy of nursing. As a nurse I believe Philosophy of nursing is umbrella way of thinking or set of Ideas, values and beliefs related to nursing profession. Nursing philosophy is basis for nursing practice which helps to apply nursing knowledge for the provision of best nursing care. Everyone has their own views regarding nursing philosophy like I have mine as a set of thinking. I will discuss why I chose to become a nurse, why did I came to United States of America for my Nursing education and why do I want to advance my education to the higher level. I would like to share a little about history of nursing philosophy. I will share my personal belief regarding my patients, their family, my colleagues and thinking regarding my own health. I am an ambitious person and I have planned my goal for my future. I will also discuss about my strengths and weaknesses that will affect m plan. Choice of Nursing Nursing is not my job, this is my career. Gaining advance nursing education is my goal. I don’t even remember when I decided to be a nurse because I used to say I want to be a nurse when one of my teachers asked me in my grade 2. When I was in grade 4, we had to study about Florence Nightingale and I came to know how she helped people In nursing profession nothing is possible without help of your coworker and other health care team. I have worked with various coworkers and I always got the chance to learn something new according to their cultural background. We nurses are from different countries but, our main purpose is to serve our patient and provide best nursing care. I believe I have to be good and I have to have a positive attitude if I expect good from my colleagues. I like to share my knowledge with my friends and I expect same from other people because I want to learn more and want to be a qualified
"Philosophy is an attitude towards life that evolves from each nurses’ beliefs" (Parker, 2001). It is the philosophy that underlies our practice what brings to life our desire to be nurses. Philosophy is essential because it is the natural extension of our interest in knowing the truth (Parker, 2001). A metaparadigm is the widest perspective of the discipline and a way to describe the concepts that concern the profession of nursing (McEwen & Wills, 2014). In this paper, my philosophy of nursing will be discussed through reflection on the four nursing metaparadigm concepts to determine if anything should be added or taken out.
This paper explores the personal philosophy I have as a nursing student and what I intend to convey throughout my nursing career. A philosophy is “an analysis of the grounds and concepts expressing fundamental beliefs (Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, n.d.). Before entering into any profession it is important to evaluate your personal philosophy about the profession, as it pertains to values and principles in which believe in to guide your practice. The field of nursing is more than treating a physiological ailment, but it involves providing quality care for the individualized needs of each patient, hence being client centered. My philosophy of nursing integrates the importance of knowledge base practice of medicine, combined with addressing holistic needs of the patient and family, including the physical, psychological, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and social care (Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, 2010). Additionally, a vital aspect of nursing is effective interpersonal relationships with other healthcare professionals to promote quality patient care. Moreover, my philosophy includes the importance the client-nurse relationship to aid in health promotion to prevent illness and increase the level of health of clients.
Before I went to College to study nursing, I had a philosophy about it which has evolved as I have gained experience and knowledge. This paper described my perspectives about nursing practice, influential people throughout my journey, and my present personal philosophy of nursing. Reflecting on and sharing my pragmatic nursing philosophy of reason has positively reinforced the care I deliver. Nursing curricula presented an abundance of information regarding nursing ideals, ethics, and personal philosophies. However, the paragons of sound nursing philosophies risk repression as one begins his or her nursing career (Martinsen, 2011). This paper emphasised the importance of reflecting on my nursing philosophy to subsequently strengthen my practice. I believe that this yields implications for my future practice. For instance, as the risk factors towards personal philosophies are introduced, I better appreciate the preventative measures against its demise. Reflective practice remains an essential skill for all areas of nursing. Self-reflection provides clarity and purpose for incorporating changes in nursing practice (Porter-O’Grady & Malloch, 2015). As I reflect on my educational journey, this nursing research course provided many opportunities for my professional growth and ignited a passion for integrating evidence-based research to improve patient outcomes on my unit.

For century’s nurses has become an essential part of patient care. Care is a pivotal principal core of the nursing profession. Caring is a practice that enhances the human spirit and allows nurses to aids patients effectively. Appropriate caring promotes health-giving, bonding with patients, inner peace for patients and families, faith and alleviates psychological or physical illness that an individual experiences during time of sickness. Caring is an important concept for nurses because it gives the gratification to promote and support human wellbeing. When establishing a positive helping trust relationship with patients, we promote psychological, open, positive, and safe practices of caring.
In order to become a nurse, there are skills that will be needed such as; communication skills, critical-thinking skills, being compassion, interpersonal skills, and also having leadership skills. Stated in “Nurse Anesthetists, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners”, “Many nurses work in offices, hospitals, schools, and clinics. Nurse midwives also work in birthing centers. Some nurses may treat patients in their patients’ homes and they may also travel long distances to help care for patients in places where there are not enough healthcare workers” (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 17 Dec. 2015). In a big environment such as hospitals, clinics, and health centers, nurses and doctors work in groups because there are many things that will be going on and working independently will not help the process go any faster in the workplace. My boss is the nurse manager that tells me what do I need to do to help the patient or tells me what they need to help the patient. My coworkers will be the other nurses that’s in the workplace and also the doctors.
