Why My First Semester In College

My first semester in college told me a lot about myself and I think the most important thing I learned was that small schools are not beneficial to me, some students love the feeling of individualized learning within a small college but as a student I could tell early on that this style of learning was not for me. While I feel like I do well in class, the lack of fellow students that I get along with is surprisingly large I ended the semester with no one to help me study or even really another person to talk to about school related things which I feel is a problem for me. As a student I learned a lot from my teachers and I found it easy to get to class on time and follow assignment directions, unfortunately one of my biggest problems was turning in the assignment. ProQuest helped me by providing me with the information I needed to write my argumentative essay and allowed me to find the right source to use. Using these two ideas about research I started to see I was leaving the mindset of a high school student and slowly getting to that of a college student. This transformation included the realization that small school learning was not for me, college work requires students be in class every class period, and that the work is unlike high school work in that it takes a lot of effort to finish. I never had any problems doing work or being in class back in high school because it was always easy work that I could be vague with and still do well. College work however requires student be attentive and aware that the topics discussed usually don’t have a day two. This was very different to me because I never had to work if I didn’t get something on the first day because I knew there would be other days to learn
