Reflective Paper: Market Justice and Social Justice
After living in the states for a while, I think the predominant philosophy held by the people in the United States considering justice is market justice because it 's seems to be promoting the right for an individual to depend on themselves in order to achieve everything that they want in life without depending on others for help. In another word, Market justice, encourage people to have an individualistic mind set. But when looking at the country as a whole it looks like they are using the social justice because everyone in the country get the opportunity for an education, everyone gets an income from the work that they do, health care and much more. For example, she said that majority of children whose parents received lots of those government programs money, start to think it is better to get free things than working hard to any achieve things, in another word, develop a spirit of depending on others for help than trying to do something for their own since they are provided with the opportunity to do so. The tension that I see people in the church having concerning social justice is trying to live out Jesus example to all their neighbors. I have noticed that many churches know that it is their responsibility to help those who are in need even if it is hard. So many have adopted to the notion of pretending to be nice to all, and help ways that they can to promote social justice even though they might not like or agree with the practices that those people they are helping are practicing. For example, churches, most of the churches that I have visited have pantry to give to those in need, church van for transportation, and much more. Basically, it feels like an obligation that they need to accomplish or they are bad people then.
I do agree with the philosophy of social justice to be preferable than market justice because it showing people do not just want to be better themselves, instead, they want to better the whole society, and if the whole society prosper, the individual prospers too. It promotes the welfare of the whole to get the same rights, opportunities, and value that they deserve. Especially, the education part, because I believe that education is the key to succeed in many people each person does. As for this I am very thankful for living in a country that promote this social
