Reflective Paper: Market Justice and Social Justice
After living in the states for a while, I think the predominant philosophy held by the people in the United States considering justice is market justice because it 's seems to be promoting the right for an individual to depend on themselves in order to achieve everything that they want in life without depending on others for help. In another word, Market justice, encourage people to have an individualistic mind set. But when looking at the country as a whole it looks like they are using the social justice because everyone in the country get the opportunity for an education, everyone gets an income from the work that they do, health care and much more. For example, she said that majority of children whose parents received lots of those government programs money, start to think it is better to get free things than working hard to any achieve things, in another word, develop a spirit of depending on others for help than trying to do something for their own since they are provided with the opportunity to do so. The tension that I see people in the church having concerning social justice is trying to live out Jesus example to all their neighbors. I have noticed that many churches know that it is their responsibility to help those who are in need even if it is hard. So many have adopted to the notion of pretending to be nice to all, and help ways that they can to promote social justice even though they might not like or agree with the practices that those people they are helping are practicing. For example, churches, most of the churches that I have visited have pantry to give to those in need, church van for transportation, and much more. Basically, it feels like an obligation that they need to accomplish or they are bad people then.
I do agree with the philosophy of social justice to be preferable than market justice because it showing people do not just want to be better themselves, instead, they want to better the whole society, and if the whole society prosper, the individual prospers too. It promotes the welfare of the whole to get the same rights, opportunities, and value that they deserve. Especially, the education part, because I believe that education is the key to succeed in many people each person does. As for this I am very thankful for living in a country that promote this social

In her opinion, we show our love for God by caring for those that are our brothers, or our fellow creatures of God. Our actions toward our brothers can bring us closer to our salvation, but can also have the reverse effect. Taking a “bad” job that undermines the poor and takes advantage of them will bring you further from the kingdom of God. We can also harm our fellow brethren, and become further from God’s kingdom by being passive consumers of products made by people in poverty conditions. Social equality is the concept in which all individuals possess the same fundamental basic liberties, opportunities, moral value/respect, and social benefits. The concept of ‘equality’ has a multiplicity of meanings and definitions, and with the rise of liberalization and democratization around the world ‘social equality’ has become the most predominant. As economic openness creates greater wealth disparities, the parallel rise of democratization has enabled citizens to demand more accountability measures and public welfare services from their governments in order to manage such disparities. Although the movement towards greater social equality has made significant strides with the establishment of equal rights (especially in the 1960s following the civil rights and women rights movement), inequality is still widespread in society among different ethnicities, social classes, and even religions. Inequality is not, however, a characteristic that only encompasses/embodies developing countries, but also embodies developed countries as well.
After reading Zeitoun, my response to social justice is that it does not exist in this universe. If we are looking at social justice in the big picture, it is a great thing to talk about social justice as if there was some imaginary balancing point at which such equality could be reached. However, in reality social justice does exist. It just being understood to those who it matters the most. For those whose lives are privileged, they would not want to know because they only hope for their own success to last forever. Social Justice means that the equal distribution of rights among all. Is gender discrimination fair? Maybe men benefit from it but women don’t at all. Women and men are not equal and we see it almost everyday. In third world countries women are seen as less of a person. But God sees everyone as a unique individual created perfectly in his eye. He would lead and teach woman just like he did to men. In the bible it doesn't say that women are only suppose to stay in the house and raise the children. I see more and more husbands being stay at home parents. With discipleship and social justice these two topics fit into gender equality nicely.
During the 113th Congress, the United States Senate voted 69-27 to pass the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013 bill on May 6th 2013. The Marketplace Fairness Act of 2013 (MFA) is a proposed legislation that would require online vendors to collect and submit all their sales tax and use tax. The bill still needs approval from the House of Representatives before it can become a law .Supporters of the bill are large retailers like Sears and Target, who claim they are at a price disadvantage because they have to charge sales tax on every sale while online retailers do not. In my eyes, social justice is an action of equality for everyone regardless of their color, ethnic ground, or gender. Since we all breath, we should have the same economical rights, political rights, social rights and the same amount of opportunities. Everyone should have economical rights because if one works hard for something they should be able to be rewarded with a good return. Everyone should also have political rights because it gives the nation as an entirety the right to a make decision rather than just to certain people. Social rights are also something everyone should have because it allows everyone to get an education, house, right to health, and other important things. How does one fit in society and know what is acceptable? Social justice dictates our place in our community and society. Our own social justice views influence how we work as a whole. This includes fair treatment of every individual and making sure we all get the same opportunity as the next person. Equal opportunity should be available to everyone and there should be an open playing field for everyone. In our society, nothing is perfect.
