Gun control Handguns are easy to get, that 's why they are the weapon of choice for people who choose to use them for self-defense. The bad thing is that they are also the weapon of choice for criminals. Since handguns are easy for criminals to steal or get, handguns are available on the black market; this makes handguns a great choice for criminals. A lot of crimes involving firearms are happening with the use of a handgun; this is a problem in America today. Although a lot of people would agree that something must be done, no one has the answer of what should actually be done. Most gun control supporters believe that banning handguns is the best way to protect citizens. Events like the shooting in Sandy Hook and the shooting in a Colorado theater have led many government officials to support gun control laws. Though, many government officials still believe in the 2nd Amendment, which states, "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." This being part of the Constitution, it gets a lot of people believing in it. However, I don 't believe this is right. The government should not control guns rights to extremes, but it shouldn 't let us have too much freedom. To much freedom is what is hurting people. They need to know who these guns are going to.
