Individual Education Program is a program that pays closer attention to a child 's school work and development in the classroom by giving them extra time and extra help in reading, writing, and math skills. I was in an Individual education program from the second grade to the eighth grade due to my lack of literacy skills. As a child I received a minimal amount of practice in reading and writing while I was at home. Before it was time for me to attend the first year of school, I was not developed enough in literacy. Because of this, I had a tutor with me at all times to guide me in class and in after school tutoring. Parents should work harder on developing their children 's literacy skills before the child 's first year of school. Most schools today have a standard level of knowledge that they believe a child needs. They believe a child needs this standard level of knowledge to be able to fully understand the material and successfully communicate with other students. They set this basic level of knowledge so all children can learn effectively and efficiently. For example, a girl that I grew up with started school a year later than everyone else because when it was time to enroll in school she did not have the basic knowledge the school required to get in. Once she was taught all the necessary materials, a year later she was able to attend school. The lack of literacy skills can be detrimental to a child 's education. If a parent wants their children to do well in school and not fall behind, their child 's literacy skills need to be somewhat developed beforehand. If children do not have these initial literacy skills and still attend school, it can hinder their learning process. Starting in a child’s early years of education, as early as kindergarten, children take many standardized test. These test are used to measure how intelligent the child is. A parent should want their child to succeed in school and be the best student they can possibly be. To succeed in life a child needs to succeed in education. Children are young, therefore, they do not know how important school can be, so it is up to the parents to show them. For many young kids, learning how to read and write is not on their mind. Kids want to play and to get children to want to learn we must push them in the right direction. For example, as a babysitter, I am with many children from the age of 6-12 years old. I feel obligated to teach them something educational occasionally but the children just do not want to learn things when they can go outside and play or watch the television. A 6-year-old kid named Paul absolutely loves Thomas the Train so when I told him that Thomas the Train loves to learn and knows how to write his name, so Paul decided he wanted to know how to write his name as well. This proves that with the right encouragement children will be willing to learn many things so it should not be that hard for a parent to take the time to teach their child something new. As well as encouragement, children need support as well. Children may be young but they can be quick to give up on things that may be the slightest bit difficult. Individualized Education Programs are written plans that state specific learning goals and designate educational services that are designed to meet a student’s individual needs.
Reading, writing, math, science, and other skills learned in school are instrumental for a child to have in order to be successful both in higher education and in life. Many factors contribute to a student’s acquisition of these skills such as their learning environment, preschool education, mental and emotional development, parental involvement, and dedication to learning. The issue that many young children are facing, however, is that all of these factors can be greatly influenced by the Socioeconomic Status (SES) of their family. Unfortunately, up until recently it was virtually unknown how teachers could help these “at risk” children, which caused an increase in the likelihood of children dropping out of school or repeating a grade. However, it is now becoming clear that there are ways that educators can help ensure children have successful academic careers and lead better lives.

Early literacy has been one of the obstacles my family has gone through and growing up as the oldest of five children there were many things to fix around the house before practicing on reading and writing skills. Both of my parents had the same struggle with literacy because they had to learn English before one them can teach us reading or writing.
If a child cannot read all facets of their life (socially, academically, relationally, financially, etc.) then they will suffer and this will continue into adult hood. Reading and understanding what you read is essential in almost everything we do such as school work, homework, buying a car, buying a house and much more. It is our job as educators to not only teach a child to read but to ignite a passion for reading, striving to make it something that comes almost as natural as breathing, and something we cannot live without. Developing a comprehensive literacy classroom is an integral part of doing exactly that.

If you look in the dictionary, you’ll find the definition of educated to be something close to this: having undergone education; characterized by or displaying qualities of culture and learning; based on some information or experience. But I haven’t found this to be particularly specific, or really helpful at all. As I’ve come to understand, being educated is transient, unless you learn to be, as a truly educated person is, a life-long learner. True education comes from yourself, from gaining an understanding of yourself, and from honing skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. These skills are what make a truly educated person, because they can use and further these skills throughout any aspect of their lives.
In our culture today, there is a huge emphasis on education, especially higher education. Society basically says the more educated you are, the better off you are. That is pretty much true if you live by the means of society. The basic idea that education, especially a college education, is something that people should pursue even into their adult years is not by any means a new idea.
A lot of children have two main educators in their life; their parents and their teachers. Parents are their first educators, the majority of what a child learns in the first few years of their life is taught by their parents. It is only when the child starts to attend an early years setting that they start to learn from another educator. Both parents and teachers continue being a major influence on their children's learning all throughout school and for the rest of their lives. The parents and the child's school both have important roles to play in the child's education and should therefore work together as a team. Parents can get involved in many different ways such as; getting involved with the school itself by helping in the classroom or supervising lunch and break times, or for those parents who work in the day and cannot find the time to help at the school they can get involved by; reading to their child at home, assisting with homework and other learning activities, teaching them songs or nursery rhymes and letting them help with everyday tasks like cooking, baking and chores. This can be categorised as: Involvement of parents in the school life or involvement of parents in supporting the individual child at home.

When we were little our parents had to guided us because we did not have the ability to live by ourselves. Sometimes, for some people, their parents taught them or they sent them to school to develop their knowledge. Parents helped their children to do their homework. They encouraged them to continue their early education. Parents help their children to build confidence in their life. A child with confidence is able to has a positive attitude in school. Also, help the child to be positive in his leaning. Many children have problems learning in school because parents do not give them support. Instead, they tell them that they are not good nothing. Also, parents help to build ways of learning at an early age. When we were, little we did not know how to study, how to read. Our parents found the best way to learn the basic education.
