Many companies and businesses require new hires to take a personality test so they can predict their behavior as well as their job success. Some people feel that the test is not very reliable, but others believe otherwise. I completed the test myself to get my own idea of its reliability. You will find my results stated below. They have been analyzed, compared, and interpreted for further understanding on the personality test works.
My personality test was taken on humanmetrics.com. The personality type that was calculated for me was ESFP. ESFP is short for extravert, sensing, feeling, and perceiving. My percentage on my score report was Extravert (1%), Sensing (9%0, Feeling (12%), and perceiving (22%). The percentages come to total 100%. The results state that ESFPs are usually so focused on right now situations that they neglect their duties and responsibilities that make their luxuries possible. It states that complex analysis, repetitive tasks, and matching statistics to real life consequences are not easy for their type. I totally disagree. I am not one of the people who rely on luck or opportunity. I do what I am supposed to do ahead of time and in a good notice. I do not depend on others or expect much help from my friends. The first personality test was the basic personality test. The assessment from the basic personality type indicated that my personality classification is an ESTJ (Llorens, 2010). The results found that I am more extroverted than introverted; I tend to be more sensing than intuitive, more of a thinker versus a feeling individual, and I am judging versus perceiving. The interpretation indicated that I am realistic, logical, analytical, decisive, organized, and I like to run things. The results were interesting, the analysis and interpretation was extremely accurate to my tendencies and my current role in my organization. The result provided me with insight to my tendencies and approaches to situations that I face each day as a leader in a multi-faceted organization (Llorens, 2010). Additionally the results indicated that my personality type matches my career aspirations as an Executive Program Manager in a corporate setting. Understanding and accepting my tendencies as an ESTJ personality type helps me be more introspective and insightful of my approaches and how I treat people and convey expectations will make me a more aware of weaknesses and strengths and use the knowledge to improve how I engage with others.

Leadership has been studied and defined since the beginning of times. Throughout history, the leadership theory was characterized by the idea of leaders being great men who were brave and sources of authority and Justice (Marsiglia). However, leadership theories have changed over time and new ones have been developed. Similarly, in today’s time, a leader’s leadership style is defined as the way a leader approaches action towards followers to accomplish a mission. Despite the fact that leadership styles are vital, it is concluded that the essence of leadership is actually an individual’s personality and what provides the motivation, purpose, and direction to lead efficiently towards accomplishments. Personality types are known to be important in leadership because they help a leader develop followers accordingly, make valuable and timely decisions, and have a different perspective to accomplish a job. Personality shapes leadership and therefore also leadership styles. Without personality, there would be no leadership styles. Personality types provides the base for leadership development, style, and the foundations for qualities needed for any leadership position.
The Myers-Briggs personality test analyzes your personality after answering a series of questions. Resulting from that is four letters. These letters are from eight different personalities and create sixteen combinations. The first being extroversion or introversion. Secondly, either sensing or intuition. Then thinking or feeling. Finally you are perceiving or judging. My results were Extroversion (E), Intuition (N), Thinking (T), and Perceiving (P). For each of those the percentages were 60%, 70%, 80%, and 80%. The reason for this test was to discover my personality and figure out how it could be beneficial. For example, when deciding on a career path knowing what might interest you helps. Also, to prove if this test was accurate in finding out your personality and if others agree with the results. When analyzing these traits for my personality looking at my behavior was important in deciding if it made sense, which almost they all did. The main purpose of this was to discover my personality and how it benefits knowing that.
Each person has a unique personality that defined who they are in a certain way. Although as humans we all have the same human traits. As human our personality trait is different in so many ways such as, no two people are alike or share the same experience of life. However, personality is the state of expressing you are or your behaviors. Also, personality is something that people will always take with them because it affects their feeling, thinking, and behaviors. Her results were different compared to mine, as she got ESFP (The Entertainer) on 16 Personalities and on Human Metrics’ 16 Types. In comparison, we are both extroverts who love to rile up others. But the difference is she seeks the party, while I inspire others to seek or create the party, whichever suits both mine and their interests. While she has a more colorful way of storytelling, I tend to organize my thoughts to what I feel is a rational order. Simply put, she values fun over all else, followed by my pursuit of inspiration more than anything else. Up next is my mother, Cheryl. She got a ISFJ, or the Defender Archetype on 16 Personalities. Conversely, she got INFJ (The Advocate on 16 Personalities) on Human Metrics with a 6 percent difference in the second letter between N and S. There are huge contrasts between being an introvert, which she is, and being an extrovert, which I am. She also focuses on working rather than inspiring, which is an important cooperation in the relationship between I and my mother. She tends slightly to get results then or now, depending on the test and context, rather than seeing what the future holds, like I do. While taking this test and reading about the information that was provided I was not really surprised about what information was given about my personality. I am 95% of what this test says I am. Additionally, this form of testing is inexpensive to administer and score. Another benefit of these types of tests is the likelihood that one will be honest, due to the lack of face-to-face communication with an interviewer (Nevid, 2015, p. 436). Lastly, this form of testing also offers the possibility of boosting one’s confidence level, because of the positive wording that does not focus on the negative aspects of one’s personality (Caswell & Stromberg, 2015, para. 21). Nevertheless, negative factors remain, such as the results of these tests have the ability to change based on one’s mood, which may have been the reason for the variance in my testing results. According to an article by Vox media, fifty percent of testers had a changed result in as little as five weeks after the first testing experience (Caswell & Stromberg, 2015, para. 24). Personality is a branch of scientific discipline that studies temperament and its variation among people. It is a dynamic and a set of characteristics possessed by their atmosphere, cognitions, emotions, motivations and behaviours in various things. Personality conjointly refers to the pattern of thoughts, feelings, social adjustments and behaviour consistently exhibited over time that powerfully influences one’s exceptions, self-perceptions, values and attitudes. With the conscientiousness category I was rated with a 58 percentile, stating I was neither organized nor disorganized. This is supposed to state weather you are able to show self-disciple and aim for high success. Which I totally disagree with because I feel as though I am the most disorganized person of all time and can never remember where I place things or can find them if that. Furthermore, I also disagreed because I find myself as a very well disciplined individual with structure and set high priorities for myself in my life to become successful. In addition, I did not quite agree with the category of openness to experience/Intelligent. As Rentfrow states, this category is supposed to say weather you have an appraising art, sentiment, voyage and unique concepts (Rentfrow). I had scored a 20 percentile stating that I have narrow interest and uncreative. Although I might be a tad bit of an uncreative side to myself, I don’t agree however it stating I have narrow interest, because I feel as though I always think out of the box about things and try and figure out problems before they even occur. The test overall did a fairly accurate job in measuring the various factors of my personality. I only disagreed with two of the ten factors, which I merely saw as an overt measurement. The test appeared to be valid for the most part pertaining to my case, and since validity correlates with reliability, its reliability appears to be relatively strong. However this is merely an opinion based on my interpretation of my own personality. It could be equally likely that other people may get many scores in which they totally disagree on. Since this test was written 20 years ago the question of re-standardization also comes into play. As for cross-cultural differences discussed in the introduction, to me it is unclear whether or not the questions are common to all cultures and backgrounds, yet among English speakers the questions seemed well structured. While no test is perfect, the 16 PF does seem to have relatively high reliability and validity, making it ideal in measuring personality traits.
The first personality assessment I took is called The Big Five Personality Test. The test is said to help me understand why I act the way I do and how my personality is structured. The results that I got showed me that my personality was high in agreeable ness and also high in extraversion.

There are biological and environmental aspects of life the shape the development of personality and differing perceptions of experiences contribute to differences between people. There are many different theories and views of personality; however, regardless of the differing viewpoints it agrees that personality is unique and no two individuals are the same (Feist & Feist, 2009).
