Nursing is not only a career, but a way to give back to the community by enhancing and maintaining the health of other individuals. Throughout my clinical experiences last year, I witnessed kindness and selflessness among many nurses that have impacted and helped shape my future career choices and life immensely. Throughout this semester, I will assess myself on my nursing skills and will constantly try to strengthen my assessments, communication, clinical judgment and patient safety skills using the Creighton Competency Evaluation Instrument (CCEI, 2014). Throughout this course, I would like to focus on perfecting my assessment finding skills along with understanding and connecting my irregular assessments to their underlying anatomy and physiology. I believe this will help me better prioritize my clinical decisions and will impact the interventions that I choose to implement for my patients. I will accomplish this goal by coming to clinicals prepared, having a basic plan ready for the day, and by reviewing interventions and medications I may need to know that pertain to the patient I am treating. I will then apply theoretical learning to patient care situations through the use of critical thinking and by completing a more focused assessment pertaining to the irregular findings that the patient is presenting. I will then rely on my previous knowledge, nursing textbooks, and technology to help me
