Many people illegally travel to another place because they are desperately looking for better opportunities, running away from poverty, wars or violence the United States is the one country that can offer those opportunities to come true and allow dreams to these immigrants from all over the world than any other country. The United States Congress needs to act on the Illegal Immigration Bill as soon as possible. For instance Mexico, unfortunately, has a poor economy with a high population and the country is still engaged in a war with various Mexican drug cartels which kills more than 80,000 people every year(Jay). As Garcia points out in his article “Why 'illegal immigrant ' is a slur”, the term ‘illegal immigrant’ was first used by the British to describe Jews fleeing from Nazi Germany in 1939. Garcia also quotes Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner, “No human being is illegal.” Garcia shows in his article that Justice Anthony Kennedy, who wrote for the majority on a case about using the terms ‘illegal immigrant’, ‘illegal alien’, or ‘illegal’, was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and three other justices in this case. In the case SB 1070, a case regarding Arizona’s immigration reform and enforcement bill, the majority ruled that in general, a removable alien is not considered a criminal, which the term ‘illegal’ implies. Of those 40 million, 11 million immigrants are not authorized to be in the country (Kirkwood). The exact number of illegal immigrants is unknown due to their lack of documents. Out of the 11 million 59% of the undocumented immigrants come from Mexico, 15% from Central and South America, 10% from Asia and the rest come from other parts of the world (Demographics). This might be surprising because when people hear the word “immigrant” or something that has to do with immigration people jump to conclusion and they believe it has to do with Mexicans or any Latino. This is not true people from all over the world come to United States to have a better life. Even though Mexicans do makeup for most of the undocumented immigrants in the United States they are not the only ones who are here illegally.
Illegal immigration is when a foreigner has entered a country unlawfully or without the country 's permission. In recent news, there has been quite the debate over whether or not there should be amnesty or citizenship offered to some or all of the undocumented immigrants in America. It has also been a hot topic during election because of the Latino vote. Many believe that the Latino vote is important so most Latinos pay attention to what a candidate is willing to do to help the Latino
