Illegal immigrants or often referred to as undocumented workers are people who come from other countries to the United States for either a better lifestyle or to work so they could supply to their family back in their natural country but, unfortunately there are people that do the impossible to try and get them deported. Deportation always seem to be the solution on how the deal with illegals and although this works it has many downsides beside causing families to split and leaving many kids in foster homes without seeing their parents for years. Political figures are always attacking illegal immigrants because of the problems they bring along when they migrate to this country. But, although illegal immigrants are viewed as a bad situation for the country they are a positive effect to the economy and are not a financial drain. Illegal immigrants are beneficial to the country’s economy since they come over and join the work force and provide contribution to the economy. When illegals come over they usually try and join job markets which require low skills and are easy for them to do and hide from being caught. First of all illegal immigrants are employed and just like every other citizen of the United States they get payroll deductions for example state taxes, federal taxes and social security. According to Stephan Gross chief actuary of the social security administration, “illegal immigrants contributed about $15 billion a year to social security” (Davidson). This is of course of just pay roll deductions this is quite a few amount of money that these people bring. And majority of the time people don’t recognize them and continues to try to get rid of illegals when in reality they cooperate heavily. The reason on why the ratio is so uneven is because not a lot of illegal immigrants are eligible to take out benefits most of them don’t qualify. Another reason on why the ratio is like this is since many illegal immigrants get fake social security numbers so they are able to cooperate but are not able to get help back due to the forging of documents. While tangible reasons exists for the need to cut on undocumented immigration, the benefits that illegal immigrants bring to the U.S economy still surpass the arguments against providing undocumented immigrants with legal status. The undocumented immigrants are found in all sectors of the U.S economy and their input needs to be recognized by providing them with legal status to work and improve the economy. If you come to america for a better life then you should put forth the effort to better yourself rather than just barely scraping by.
