A Roman poet named Horace once said, "Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant." Horace examines the role that adversity plays in the growth of a person’s character and understanding of burdens and times of difficulty. In these times, when adversities are encountered, one’s real character is exposed. The true depth and intensity of human nature is disclosed, but true talent is not always found. But, what is found, is the truth behind that person’s character, and the strength they truly posses.

Adversity affects people’s characters and personalities every day. Although adversity may not affect everyone, an abundance of individuals are affected every day. I have faced adversity in my life. Ever since I was little I have been playing soccer, and every day I have been trying to get better and better. My sister plays soccer as well and I have been compared to her my whole life. Being compared has changed me into a more hard-working individual and made me a better person as a whole. See, adversity does not always change people for the worse. Sometimes, like in my case, it can coerce people into becoming stronger. Adversity shapes a person’s character through displaying different forms, altering individuals for better or worse, and encircling

In conclusion, to the above points, anyone is capable of triumphing over adversity. No matter how hard the circumstances are, each individual is able to. Unfortunately for some, they lack the need to triumph and in the end fail to beat adversity. Passion and commitment is all it takes to knock down those barriers and succeed in life. “Become the person you have always dreamt of being”.
There is no more critical role in our current society than that of a teacher’s. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now, and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly however important teachers are in human civilization, they are still drastically understated, unrecognized and under paid.

Do you remember the teacher that inspired you to do your best? Or maybe the teacher who believed in you when the rest of the world had turned against you? Teachers have a way of touching students’ lives, whether in a large or very minute way. I can think of numerous times that a teacher made a difference in my life. I am so appreciative of them, and I want to do for other students what many of my teachers have done for me. That is why, after I obtain, both, my Bachelor and Master degrees, I plan to enter the teaching profession.
Changing the World Through Education My philosophy of teaching involves changing the world through my students. I want to enable my students, through education and motivation, to leave the world better than they have hounded it. Like many social reformists, I feel that we as teachers owe it to the future generations to instruct them how to handle the problems they will encounter in hopes that they will pass on fewer problems to their children. I will work every minute of every day to ensure my students’ successful futures.
