Homeostasis
Homeostasis is the biological process that maintains a stable internal environment despite what occurs in the external environment. Chemicals and bodily functions are maintained in a balanced state so the body may function optimally. There are various systems in the human body that require maintenance through the processes of biochemical checks and balances so they may function properly. One of these systems includes the rise and fall of blood glucose and is under the control of the homeostatic regulation process. Homeostasis is essential in blood glucose regulation as high blood glucose levels (hyperglycaemia) and low blood glucose levels (hypoglycaemia) are dangerous and can affect the human body in many ways and can also lead to fatal events. Therefore, it is important that glucose enters and leaves the blood at equal rates in order to keep blood glucose levels within the normal, healthy range of 70 mg/dl to 110 mg/dl. A number of hormones regulate the balance between these processes and are secreted by the adrenal glands and pancreas.

Homeostatic System of Blood Glucose Regulation
The human body requires homeostasis to keep a set point at a constant. With feedback loops, the internal environment of the body can achieve to keep it at the set point. All homeostatic mechanisms use a feedback loop to inform the body about any changes that occur externally or internally. There are two different kinds of homeostatic mechanisms: a positive feedback mechanism and a negative feedback mechanism. Positive feedback mechanisms boost the physiological process and amplify the system 's action to move the system away from the equilibrium state so it is more stable. Individuals who are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes must be treated with daily injections of insulin into their body after meals along with a managed diet and regular exercise so they can keep a balance between their energy needs and so they can maintain a storage of glucose for emergencies.
To produce insulin for diagnosed patients scientists use a process called 'genetic engineering '. Genetic engineering uses various technologies to switch the cells genetic makeup in order to develop an organism. One advantage of genetic engineering is that the insulin produced is identical to human insulin but isn 't made by humans but by bacteria itself.
Diabetes medication such as insulin can overshoot the amount of insulin that is required by the body to keep homeostasis, which then causes the blood glucose level to go too low and become hypoglycaemic.
