With hard work and dedication, you can achieve great things. One of the greatest accomplishments in my life was winning state last year. I have never once wanted to win this game for my teammates more than this one. This game I played for my brothers on the field with me.
I remember ever single moment of the that week leading up to it and the game. We practiced Monday through Friday, every single practice was freezing cold. I specifically remember the Thursday practice. What made this practice stand out was the fact that it was on Thanksgiving day. Wednesday night we had a big snow storm, so the next morning ice covered the field. This practice was beyond compare to any of the others. This practice was not just fun, this practice played an important role in our victory, because the field during the state game was covered in ice. The night before the game I couldn’t even sleep. I had so much anxiety and adrenaline. All I could think about was the next day.
The day of the game I woke up at 6 AM. I took my shower and head to the school. At the school we had a little meeting and our parents group gave us chick fil a sandwiches. We loaded the bus and headed out to the Emporia State field. Once we got there all of the nervousness hit me. I had butterflies in my stomach. We had hours before the game so we went out and walked on the icy field. We had never played a game on this kind of conditions. In the locker room we had music blaring and people were getting pumped to play. We go out for pre-game and see thousands of people there. The butterflies come back, but I had so much adrenaline it equaled out the nervousness. We head back into the locker room and in just 15 minutes I would be playing in the State Championship game.

...he crowd. I have never had such a big smile on my face, there will never be a more satisfying moment. We stuck around on the field for about 45 minutes just taking pictures.
Once We got back into town we were met by Cops, and had a police escort and drove around the town. While people are sitting outside their house and waving and cheering. This was a really unique moment, and the feeling of the whole town cheering for you was pretty crazy. When we finally get back to the school, we are met by all our parents and friends, with signs and posters. I had this feeling that I was a hero to them.
This game will be apart of me for the rest of my life. I will tell my kids about this game when I someday have some. The “Ice Bowl” is a game that changed my life forever. I can say that me and my team were the best team in the whole entire state and that we are State Champions.
