We are all humans who bleed red. No one should have to limit their happiness because some person does not approve. Gay marriage should be a universal right. In the United States, Gay marriage was legalized on June 26, 2015. This is a large step for us as a country. We are one step closer to equality. We do not want people to feel oppressed or uncared for. Marriage is a bond between the two-people getting married. Everyone deserves to marry the person they love regardless of gender. Same sex marriage will increase revenue, give children homes with gay couples who are willing to invest in them. It is a universal right to be treated fairly and equally. Some may argue they’re still capable of having children so they are still eligible for the right of marriage. . Are they deemed unfit for marriage since they cannot reproduce or do not want children? Should they not feel enlightened? People get married because they want to spend the rest of their lives with the person they love. If children come from that then great. If not, who cares? Adoption is always an option. There are so many kids that need parents. Marriage is not just meant for reproduction. Everyone deserves to marry who they choose. For example, visiting your partner in the hospital during an illness, filing a joint tax return to reduce a tax burden, access to health coverage, US residency for partners from another country, and bereavement leave and inheritance rights if a partner dies. Same sex couples should have these same benefits. It is only just. There are 1,138 benefits, right and protections available to married couples in the federal law, per a General Accounting Office assessment made in 2004. I’m glad that in the United States same sex marriage is legal and couples can now access these benefits only intended for heterosexual couples. It is progress. A light at the end of a tunnel. These are basic human rights everyone should have regardless of sexual orientation. If you love someone and you’re their life partner you deserve to be able to visit them in a hospital, to file taxes together, share medical coverage.
