The reason congress authorized the purchase of experimental vaccines was so that the government could use them on U.S. citizens during a national crisis. Even though the vaccines were only meant for national emergencies, the government still has the power to do as they please and use the vaccine when the feel the need to. In the year 2005, the FDA required military personnel to receive an experimental anthrax vaccine that put them at a higher risk of exposure to a Bacillus anthracis. The American people have rights, and one of those rights is to decide what we want administered into our bodies. I think it is very important to educate others on the risks of vaccines so that they can decide what is fit for them. I also want to bring awareness to the difficulties people face to keep vaccines out of their bodies and their children’s bodies. It should not be a struggle. We have rights to our own bodies and we should not be treated any differently for choosing not to vaccinate. I do not get the flu shot, nor do I get every new shot thrown my way by doctors, and I am perfectly healthy. In fact, I rarely get sick. Since they were first created, vaccines have been the center of many controversies. Fighting for the health of children, on one side their are worried parents not wanting their children to experience harmful side effects, while the government wants the overall well being and eradication of illnesses no matter the cost.
