Changing and ever evolving, technology has impacted everybody’s lives in an irrevocable manner . Beginning in 2003 with MySpace, social networking is one aspect that has completely revolutionized people’s everyday lives. The empire created by MySpace was then further expanded by a new generation of social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. This era was marked with innovative new features including video chat and increased commercialization of businesses, leading to increased popularity and growth which is intangible. The change in social networking over the past several years has modernized the daily lives of the common people through the development of groundbreaking features connecting people better than ever across the globe.

The awakening age of social networking was initiated by MySpace, one of the world’s first popular social media websites. It marked the start of the research and development on social networking to raise its standards to the high expectations the people have today. MySpace was founded by Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson in 2003 as a project to connect employees of eUniverse, however soon it turned into a race to establish which employee could add the most users. Soon, MySpace had over twenty million users. The next stage of development was launching the website for public use, however the issue arose whether to keep it fee or perhaps charge a fee. Presently, it became apparent that the best option was to leave it free in order to maximize the amount of users. The project became an instant hit! The amount of users skyrocketed from twenty million to hundred million in 2006 (Boyd and Allison).
