In a ‘biblical marriage,” God desires unity in marriage. Marriage is a binding contract that is filled with the soul of God and the two individuals. Marriage is about being open and understanding. Faithfulness and integrity make up the body of the marriage while God makes up the soul. Humans selfish desires make married life difficult and undesirable. Matthew 19:3-9, Jesus answered the problematic topic of divorce in marriage. Saying how the purpose of man and woman was to have a relationship with each other. Willpower is the motivation needed to assert ones’ will? A person with a strong willpower will assert their decisions, even in the face of a strong opposition compared to someone with little willpower. Does willpower come from a person’s faith in God? Hebrews 11:1 says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen." Willpower is the ability to fight our selfish desires created from our sinful natures. With faith we can trust in God to see the good, willpower feeds the individual’s faith in their selves. Willpower is first about self-control. If one cannot control oneself, then there is little hope to influence others. Self-regulation is more attainable when focused on values rather than feelings (Stosny, "Self-Regulation", 2011). Consistent self-regulation requires focusing on the individual’s deeper values rather than feelings. As Christians, self-control is a vital part of the Christian life. It adds towards establishing a foundation of faith. Having self-control makes it possible for Christians to fulfill the responsibility for themselves. It is important to understand that many people will criticize a person’s given faith or religion because human nature is curious about the unknown questions regarding the universe or supernatural. If no one decides to evaluate why or how things come to be then it could lead to blindly the following anything and living a life of doubt and uncertainty. Proverbs 14:15 (NLT) quotes, “Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps.” This scripture is one of many that accurately describe why Christians should have critical thinking in the Christian worldview. A ‘prudent’ person is someone who has or shows good judgment/ wisdom. To be wise, one must seek knowledge and ask questions. Only a foolish person will seek something blindly, without first asking the question of why they should seek it. Being a follower of Christ and reaping the benefits of being a fateful servant is great, but it is also hard work. Staying grounded in the Word of God, being humble, and renewing our minds daily is a very important process. When helping others it is so important to have successful coping strategies as well as ways to de-stress because as you stated, “Helping people for a living certainly can burnout a person”.
